Out of the Blue

With the arrival of autumn I mentioned to MrsBlue we should look into getting our COVID and flu shots. She doesn't mess around, and just like that we had appointments yesterday at the state-of-the-art medical facilities of our local WalMart. This was our first-ever experience with Inject-Safe Barrier Bandages, which I had never heard of before. The shots didn't hurt much, and these barriers are said to help, though my arm is pretty sore right now. But amid concerns about a more contagious COVID XEC variant this seems like a small price to pay. I didn't have much in the way of other side-effects, though I'm wondering if I ended up in a fever dream. I have this vague recollection of the Giants winning a football game and the first episode of a new DC Comics television series show being the best new thing I've seen on TV since Shogun. Something must have caused those hallucinations. It was probably the shots.

I will be getting a Flu/covid shot in the coming weeks. I had Covid again 2 months ago cause I didn’t want to pay €15 and have to make appointments to get a Covid shot. I really need to stick to having the shot. Tired of this wretched sickness.

Also I failed to bring along any immunisation records from the US with me when I moved. So they are now giving me a bunch of vaccines to bring me up to European standards. I know I had a bunch when I was a kid and my mother always made sure to get me any vaccines that were available.

But since god knows what health insurance I was using back then and how without that knowledge I basically cannot find any record of my shots. They have to redo them all here. This time with a record on file with the government.

Also me personally, with the cat I grew up with, I would not take them along camping with me. But if you have a cat that won’t just bolt into a dark forest on a whim, more power to you.

Twilight of the Gods on netflix. phenomenal show boys. an original animated norse adventure from zach snyder, and i must say, much much better than anything he's previously put out. very hard R; i think if it had been a live action theatrical release it would've been nc17, and yet never gratuitous.
when i first say blue eye samurai i knew for sure it would win an emmy. this gives similar artistic vibes in terms of animation and writing.

Ah, Cutter's usual brand of "Everyone else is wrong and I am absolutely right in my judgement call".

Newflash:

Mrs. Burrito and I used to take our calico camping along with our dog. She loved going camping. She had been camping since she was a kitten. She was always at my wife's heels (rightfully so, she was was my wife's cat) and would even go on hikes along with us in her harness and leash. Curling up in either of our laps around the campfire was her favorite part. She'd purr so loud you could almost hear her in the next campsite over. She was happy and, guess what, never got lost! Funny that.

As we got older and migrated from a tent to an RV, she was happy as a clam to sleep in the sun on the dashboard or just watch the world and road roll by.

You absolutely can take your cat camping and I've met several cat campers in my travels and adventures.

So, once again, Cutter is wrong.

At first I thought it was going to be a remake of the old Thunderbirds TV show, but I see it's just another Marvel movie.

Seriously?!? The idiots meow'd at the cat through the trailer door, vs actually going and looking for the cat. Cat was better off without them.

Also Thunderbolts is looking good!

The couple searched for five days through the woods near their campground at Fishing Bridge R.V. Park but never found their 2-year-old male Siamese cat

What article were you reading? It was, however, fucking cheap and stupid of them to bring their cat camping with them. Even beyond boarding there are services for pet sitters that don't cost you anything beyond a small fee to sign up. The service provides vetted, bondable house sitters - who get free digs - in exchange for looking after your pet and place.

And no, Thunderbolts looks fucking awful.

I've started this new series by an author named William R Forstchen. The first book in the series is "One Second After". It's about a small North Carolina town in the mountains after an EMP hits the whole US and takes everything down.

Has anyone else read the series? I've got the first three books since I got them for $4 as a set. The writing is all right. Not terrible but not Simmons or Heinlein level, for example. Is it worth continuing after the first three books?

That Live Science link is interesting but it ends on a rather naive note, to be polite.

Retrofitting modern cities and their glass towers for better heat control isn't simple, but there are techniques that can be adapted to new designs for living better in hotter and drier climates and for relying less on constant summer air conditioning.

It's not going to happen any time soon. Because that would cost money that can't immediately be recouped. Therefore it won't be done. The only way change will occur is if far stricter thermal regulation controls and thermal efficiency are mandated by building codes and enforced by regulation.
