My biggest complaint with the Borderlands movie was the guns were so boring. Borderlands claim to fame was all the different guns and their various effects. The plain ol bullets got old after a while. I wish in the movie the characters occasionally found other guns with different damage like shock, corrosion, fire etc to add some variety to the deaths in the shoot outs, of which there were many. Oh and Roland never put down a turret, I kept expecting it.

Overall I agree it wasn't terrible. I didn't see myself ever watching it again though.

I have never done both at the same time. Also, my first time getting Pfizer instead of Moderna. This was my seventh shot. As usual, it took me down for a couple days. I'm almost back to normal.A few pain and itches in COVID-19 shot area.

Seriously though, I know what isolation and loneliness feels like. You might be thinking that everyone does; we had a global pandemic that had everyone shut away for two years. I'm not talking about being alone. I'm talking about the complete isolation that comes from being all alone. The kind of alone that barely changed when the pandemic hit and never lifted after it was done. If it wasn't for my son coming to check on me every 2 weeks I don't think I would have seen another living human for 4 years after my stroke.

Things have changed a bit, and what I found is that moderation of everything was the key to survival for me. If I became too obsessed with anything that it was affecting my mood, a complete moderating was necessary. I had to force myself to stop obsessing over it. I had to force myself to stop obsessing over anything that could depress me. It took hospitalization and constant therapy, but I did it. Mostly. I'm surrounded by voting Republicans wherever I go. My mom, my dad, my older sister, my nephews, my neighbors... The key for me is now that only focus on things that unite us, and steadfastly refuse to engage in things that divide us. There's more to a person than their political affiliation, or whether they think global warming is a hoax, if they think the earth is flat, 9/11 was an inside job, if vaccines give you autism or if they are unknowingly soft racists or soft bigots. All of that you just forcefully stomp out. My dad brings up how he's tired of how Biden is ruining the country, or how every show has a gay couple in it, and I say "I'm not discussing it, and if you keep discussing it I will leave." Then I find something that we can talk about civilly and all is well. This is not advice; just sharing what works for me.

I am alone about 95% of the time. I rarely feel lonely. That said, the things which are happening which make you fell alone are probably the same things making me have to fight the urge to go on a killing spree. I'm not sure which feeling is worse to have.

I am truly glad, although I'm sorry for your discomfort. We live in an age of scientific miracles. I'm dismayed at the the current rejection of science and expertise by so many people after we'd made such good progress in previous decades. I wish all to live long, happy, and natural lives, and vaccines certainly help with that for the vast majority of people. Thanks KX.

The meta part of me would tell you we are all alone.

But the more practical part of me would say NOPE! But on a darker note, does anyone else feel completely alone right now? Basically my entire family has succumbed to the fascist, oppressive, and un-American MAGA cult. Everyone except for my sister and one of my uncles who I never see. That uncle's own wife is more than happy to vote against her own best interests, in fact. It's so weird and depressing and inexplicable all at the same time. These are people I used to look up to and considered rational and intelligent. Now, I just feel disconnected from them all, and like I really have no family to speak of anymore. There is no reasoning or rationalizing with them. It's like they WANT to live under a dictatorship where they have no freedoms or upward mobility. These are, for the most part, people older than me who, through their votes, will be at least partially responsible for what my life is like in the future, and they don't even care.

I want off this planet.

I watched it the other day, and thought it was pretty good. It knows what it is and leans into that. I wasn't totally happy with the cast either, but Cate was a lot better than I was expecting and was fun to watch. I would watch BL again before I watched something like Prometheus or Life.

Yes, I think the negative backlash was wildly overblown as well. It is not a great movie by any measure but I'd give it a solid C. I, too, have seen much worse movies this year as well. Much, much worse. Furiosa, The Crow, and Subservience spring immediately to mind.

Mickey 17 is only very loosely based on the novel Mickey 7. For one thing, they turned it into a dark comedy. Also, note the number difference. I heard that they changed several other things also.

I read the first novel, but didn't read the sequel. The first was fine, but I didn't see a lot of room left to do much with the second one.
