I'm almost positive that I saw an MSRP of $700 for the pro. Also, I paid almost $2000 for my video card so compared to that a $700-$800 future console doesn't seem unreasonable, even if that might be priced too high for mass market penetration.

I think you're about $400-$500 too low.

I'm not, no way is a console going to be double the cost of what I described. This is 3-4 years from now.

PS5 Pro is 700$, without a disc drive.

Very doubtful PS6 will be cheaper.
^ This, also the PS5 Pro is selling for 800 GBP which is over $900 in US dollars so we're practically there depending upon where you buy it. If not this upcoming console cycle then the next, I think console prices will be so close to PCs that their worth will be questionable.

I can easily see a 1000 USD day one edition of the PS6 without a disc drive. Probably the bundle that comes with a premium title or two and 2 controllers. Worse, I can see them being just as hard to get and pre-sold out for much of the first 6-12 months at that price.

Here is why I might be one of those people buying that depending on timing of release: I have never bought a Sony Playstation console, portable or not, that I wasn't still using 10 years later to some degree. My PSP lasted eight years before being benched, but thats because there was only like 8 years between when I got the PSP and when I got the Vita. All those consoles, not a dud among them for me. So basically, if I am buying a console for the next 10 years a 1000 dollar price tag goes from "FOR A CONSOLE?!" to "100 dollars a year doesn't seem all that expensive" from my perspective. I wouldn't give MS that much money as their consoles have been notoriously fragile and their game library is never all that different from my PC. Nintendo won't ask for 1000, at least not yet..lol.

Sony basically have no choice and have to use AMD again because nvidia definitely will not do PS6 chip for cheap or with a reasonable price. And for Intel? Forget about it. If Apple is not touching Intel anymore, why the fxxk Sony will.

BTW, I also think the first poster estimated PS6 MSRP too low. I say it will start at least $50-100US more than he estimated. My guess is starting at $550-600US.

Just for fun my predictions for PS6: Nov 2027 launch (Nov 2028 at latest), TSMC N3 node, AMD APU with Zen 6 8C/16T + RDNA5, 24GB GDDR7 VRAM unified, 1TB PCIe 5.0 NVME with m.2 expansion. 250W TDP. No Blu-ray: $499, Blu-ray drive add-on: $49.
I think you're about $400-$500 too low. Also unless they plan to charge a premium for the external drive and make it proprietary (very possible), I could see them just allowing a UBS player to work instead.

I should buy a PS5 Pro so I can play GTA 6? When did those get released? Where can I read the reviews? On that note, could you tell me if I should stick with my PS8 when GTA 10 comes out or should I wait for the PS9?

Sony said PS5 Pro launches in November. Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/live/X24BzyzQQ-8?si=uxkkGGrW9Z46Zu4S

It's about 50% faster than base PS5 (with 2-3x the RT performance thanks to RDNA4). GTA 6 is over a year away anyway, so I wouldn't buy anything yet for it.
