I'm part of the 97 people recieving "competetive severance packages and outplacement services", and while I would agree that much signifigant talent had been lost since the 99 purge, and since, due to the constant mixed messages from Sierra about what they would allow us to develope and all of our creative people being ridden by the "Bull Rider" marketing and bean-counter clique who call the shots at Sierra, but I'd disagree with the statements that those leaving now were devoid of signifigant talent or potential for delivering the gaming community some really cool games in the very near future we were working on.
I choose to view what happened as a signifigant opportunity for the xDynamix talent who were reccently axed, or who were previously axed, or who voluntarilly left due to creative frustration or seeing the proverbial writting on the wall, and who are still in Eugene to get together and start fresh & to pursue some of the concepts and Ideas we have been forbidden from by Sierra for years.
As for Sierra Bellevue, Washington, I harbor no ill will for them. They, by getting rid of us and 200+ people in their own faccility, have bought themselves a year or so of life in which to transition from being a largely Publishing and Administrative centric faccilty to a succesful development house. I wish them luck, but don't hold out a lot of optomism that this daunting task can be succesfully pulled off by them before their masters, in turn, pull the plug on them.
I speculate that we will see some interesting and exciting news from the small burg of Eugene, Oregon in the not so distant future, and more contributions to the Tribes 2 community in near future, despite the fact that all future cash rewards for Tribes 2 will be going to the bean counters at Sierra, simply cause we love you guys for having faith in Tribes 2 enough to have given Sierra cause to allow us to make a sequel & we love the game even if it is no longer ours.
Thanks guys (Tribes Fans, and others who have appreciated Dynamix's games in the past),
