When I was in the service one of the things I learned was, you don't want to end up on VA care.

My sister was pissed - she was on the phone quite a while letting them know that this is unacceptable. Apparently what happened is I was on a titration dose (taken in smaller quantities then slowly increased) that was prescribed as "no refills". The automated system on the phone only took the request to have it refilled but didn't inform her that there were 0 prescribed. I don't know how this obvious thing wasn't foreseen either. A regular auto- refilling dose should have been prescribed by the end of the first. Somebody dropped the ball. By the time it got straightened out, I had only 2 days of medicine remaining. The VA deliveries are "3 to 10 days". I'm told that I will be getting them today. They have an angry Italian Jersey girl on the warpath now. I wouldn't want to be them.

Wow, because of someone's incompetence there will be a minimum $3000 emergency room bill.
SSRI's are not rare medications and there is no excuse for you to be lied to about availability.

Have you or your sister looked into https://costplusdrugs.com/. They carry SSRI's.
It's Mark Cubans company, here's the skinny https://costplusdrugs.com/mission/ and https://costplusdrugs.com/faq/

Prescriptions are shipped to you door and even if FedEx UPS or USPS fubars the baby, you should never run out.
How do I ask for refills?
If a prescription has eligible refills, it will be available for fills when you have used 50% of your prescription's day supply. If a prescription does not have refills, please contact your doctor to request refills.

So I have been on a medication categorized as an SSRI. An important thing about these types of medicines is that they cannot be quit cold turkey. Well they can, but it is advisable that you don't because of the potentially dangerous side effects of doing so. The VA psychiatrist put me on them about a month ago I guess ( I'm not very good at time any more) and it seemed to be having a positive effect overall. The side effects can be awful but this one was pretty tame. My meds ran out and a refill was not reordered as they promised it would be. My sister called the phone help line 3 times and verified that it was refilled. Well it wasn't, and after 4 days I had a very bad reaction that ended me up in the hospital. They gave me a tranquilizer and a strong anti-anxiety med and I improved quickly. At some point I sat up on the bed, looked down and saw that I was wearing the bunny slippers that BoP sent, the stupid bunnies' beady eyes staring saply up at me. My mood improved after that.

You know, I work on an army base and there is surprisingly no fanfare anymore about it being 9/11. I got one email about it from some department head and nobody else mentioned it. Guess it's going in the bin next to 12/7 and 6/6.

9/11 has turned from a solemn remembrance of a national tragedy (though not an unforeseen one) into a day of the year where what is most seen are liquored up hillbillies screeching "NEVAR FURGIT" while waving flags and posting memes of a crying bald eagle. Plus the added dash of Islamophobic racism. A recent poll showed 23% of Americans don't have any connection to it since they weren't alive when it happened 23 years ago. For them, 9/11 has as much relevance as the Vietnam War does to Gen X or World War 1 does to Boomers. It's just something that exists in history books. You mentioned December 7th but does anyone on your base pause on the 15th of February? Probably not since not only is it the wrong branch of the service but it also occurred so long ago that it's just another date. Another decade or so and 9/11's relevance will be just as meaningless to an even larger portion of the population because Gen Z will be adults by then, almost all the Boomers will have died off, and a full third of Millennials weren't that cognizant of it in the first place as a "I lived through that" event since they were quite young at the time.

Nobody mentioned it during work today, either. The mood wasn't any different than it would be on any other Wednesday. The usual kvetching, memes, and jokes happened as usual. Most of the places I visited online today didn't mention at all and it was also business as usual.

You are correct as I posted below my opinion on it as well.

I recall working on the night the day in happened. Was reminiscent of the first days of Covid lockdown. So quiet at work you could hear a pin drop. The few customers we had were solemn and quiet as hell. We mostly sat around till 6am just staring at the ground not sure what to think.

I will not forget that.

9/11 has become a distant memory to me now. Between the years gone by and living outside the US, it has steadily lost meaning.

However that should never under state what a world changing event it was. Thanks to some religious fundies causing so much damage we have a massive combined federal law enforcement agency, unprecedented civilian spying, and stupidly over secured plane boarding.

Not to mention a mobilised citizenry that boosted enlistment, helped Bush and his garbage cabinet invade 2 separate countries. And lead to the longest foreign country occupation by the US in history. Which in turn lead to TFG making a deal that basically reset everything the US did in Afghanistan and the deaths and injuries of US soldiers meant nothing ultimately.

It may be reduced to a slowly fading memory, as with all tragedies, but the effects and changes to our lives that we now have shouldn’t be forgotten.

The survey, by WaterFilterGuru.com, had scientists swab common household surfaces for comparison.

Yeah, forgive me if I take the results of a survey paid for by a water filter company with a mountain sized dose of skepticism.

Musk ambrette is widely used in inexpensive or counterfeit fragrances and other scented personal care products, Shaw said. But it has also turned up in surveys of wastewater and in the bodies of freshwater fish, the researchers noted.
