Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat. Play alone or with friends, explore an alien planet, create multi-story factories, and enter conveyor belt heaven!
Conquer nature by building massive factories across the land. Expand wherever and however you want. The planet is filled with valuable natural resources just waiting to be utilized. As an employee of FICSIT it’s your duty to make sure they come to good use.

Yeah, that is the mod manager I was using. So... *shrug*

For potentially making things easier down the road: If you weren't using it before there is a mod launcher which was created by the modding Discord. That saved me from having to mess around with anything and just disabled mods.

I was thrilled to see they put an input belt on the biomass generator. Nice to be able to semi automate the solid biofuel production. Nice quality of life improvement.
El Pit wrote on Sep 11, 2024, 16:32:Hah! I couldn't remember if they'd talked about something bigger. Blueprints really still just make me want to build boxes though. Just finished up my first coal power so I'm going to start organizing the factory stuff since I don't have to worry about getting fuel for the biomass plant.thestryker wrote on Sep 11, 2024, 16:20:As a surprise, now even 6x6x6 is possible.
I decided to start in the Rocky Desert since they killed my favorite Northern Forest starting position. I did a bit of hand crafting while putting stuff away and getting ready to watch TV so I figure today I'll hop in and start building. I don't recall if you have to unlock it or if they just changed the blueprint machine but 5x5 blueprints are going to be possible now. I used to build most of my factories in a 5x5, but I'm trying to convince myself to not just make boxes this time even though it's now doubly tempting!

Well, got it running. Added a "-dx11" launch switch and then had to delete my mods folder. Yay!
The Flying Penguin wrote on Sep 13, 2024, 09:11:Hmm, didn't notice a patch when I started today. Yeah, new save. I didn't want to fix the recipe changes and I want to start fresh for the story anyway. Although I am a couple of hours in and I haven't seen much of that story yet...
Running smooth for me on DX12, but I'm starting from scratch so not even up to coal power yet.

Played four of the earlier versions. Never had a problem. 1.0 crashed on launch. After some digging I found a possible fix by forcing DX11. That seemed to get me passed the exception I was getting but got a new error. I read coal generators bust if you look in them. You have to restart to get them working again. Plenty of other snafus too. Not a complete failure of a launch, but a pretty bad one.

I did fire up my last saved game, just to see if it broke anything in a major way. My nukes and Turbofuel generators were still running, and everything seemed okay at a glance, but since some nodes have been moved, I suspect it's all just running on what's buffered in storage containers and long belts right now. Eventually I'll go back and try to fix that save game for fun.
I did start from scratch last night in green forest, right next to a patch of iron, copper and limestone. Started a new Google spreadsheet to keep track of production. I had forgotten how grindy things are until you get constructors and smelters, which I did finally get before going to bed last night. So today I'll build a couple of starter factories. I have a nice design for a compact 4x4x4 modular factory that produces all the basics (screws, rods, iron sheets, wire, cable, reinforced iron sheets) from 60 each of iron, copper and limestone that I designed for my last playthrough. Instead of making one giant factory this time as I usually do, I'm going to try for the modular approach and make small dedicated factories near resources, at least to start with.
Game runs smooth, and the new quality of life features like the automatic 90 degree belts building mode, and better alignment indicators are a blessing.
I was sorely tempted to cheat and enable flying mode, but I want to have the genuine vanilla experience. But damn, life is so hard without a jet pack or a hover pack.
Anyone who was using the Satisfactory Mod Manager, be aware, your game will crash or lock up on first start. You need to open the Mod Manager app, and follow the instructions in the news banner to delete the mods folder, and then the game will run fine. I only used a couple of mods: One to make it daytime all the time, and another to have larger inventories.

Game looks great, they added so many features with EA and visually it's like a showcase for UE5 now (btw as is The Talos Principle 2).

I'm the same. What you can build is impressive but building without a purpose just doesn't do it for me. I wish there were reasons for building this stuff - creating a trade empire or something.
Whaaat, there's no reason to build massive, planet-spanning factories? At least The Riftbreaker and some of the other build/survival games, you're building to escape/go home/defeat the hordes, etc.
Sounds like the only way to win is to not destroy the ecology of this alien world, and just slowly starve to death, motionless, on the planet.
