I rented it through the $18 subscription deal and I'm not hating it but I think I tend be a little more forgiving when it comes to certain games. I'm trying to get as much as I can out of it so I literally just left the first planet yesterday, 'Toshara'. I like to explore every nook and cranny of a map before I move on. I'm about 20 hours in and I admit there's quite a bit of jank to it but it's not too bad and completely playable. To me it feels like Star Wars just because of all the different aliens and the architecture. I like how everything has a worn, used to feel to it and it's not all shiny and new. I found the graphics to be kind of pretty but it definitely makes your system work for it and on the pc version I've had zero crashes which I found pretty amazing. I always turn all music off in games so I can't really comment about that but languages and effects also sounds like Star Wars to to me. So far I'm having fun with it.

This was my fear about the game after the recent videos and hands on previews by YTers. It looks to be very much true by all accounts and it's a damn shame. Unless this director plans on some major changes to the core game play as part of his continuous improvement he claims to be focusing on, he'll have to settle for the, "disappointing" review scores.

Can you imagine being the Creative Director and told to come out and tell a story all the while knowing that in 2018 your stock hit over $90 and now you can pick it up for $15 and change.

The world design is fantastic but everything else is rubbish. They don't even understand basic parts of the Star Wars fantasy, for example when people think of speeder bikes they think of the long elegant ones from Return of the Jedi, and those are everywhere being driven by everyone else, but Kay gets a moped.

Star Wars is synonymous with characterful ships like the Millenium Falcon. Kays ship looks like a Federation shuttle from Star Trek had a baby with the dropship from Aliens. It's basically a brick with a big window at one end.

Outlaw fantasy in Star Wars? Cocky rogues with a heart of gold? Kay stammers and awkwards her way through every interaction with zero confidence. One part of her early dialogue was literally "I want half up front" "You'll get paid when you've done the job." "O-okay?".

It's a weird mix between a worldbuilding team who clearly love and understand the source material, a creative team who don't and a mechanics/gameplay team who are utterly pedestrian.

IDK, I'm rewatching Andor at the moment and it's basically saying "F**k the establishment, blow sh*t up, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." Seems kinda edgy to me.
+1
There's so much production value in Outlaws and yet it's so shallow. Shame.

Well, Han Solo was a macho and a scoundrel par excellence. You're not going to find an alpha male like him with little respect for female royalty in any modern SW movie anymore. The w0kies would go ballistic if someone would be throwing around the "sweethearts" like candy in a modern SW flick .
This was not edgy at all. This kind of character is normal when you want to describe a scoundrel who is also kind of a dick, but has a heart of gold. This is a worn out cliche. Edgy? Come on ...

The rest is, as always, pure projection.

"Woke" is forced politics?

I dont get it. I REALLY do not get this snowflakey hysteria over "Things i dont like and therefore have to call woke because thats the word of the current season".

Since when had any SW movie any edge?

from what i've seen it seems outlaws doesn't know its audience. it's supposed to be a 'hive of scum and villainy' simulator, yet refuses to allow you to act like scum. it's like a mafia game for 10y/os; makes no sense.
