My job in New York had a Non-compete clause. It only ever mattered if somebody bother to report it though. But that was back then.

Mine right now has a 2 month period.
I gave notice 2 weeks ago, and they're holding me to it, but also don't want me having fresh information since I'm going to a competitor, so they're paying me to sit at home for 6 weeks.

I'm a rare situation where this actually rocks.

If I was paid for it sure. The clause mentioned nothing about being paid. If I recall right… again this was over 20 years ago now. That if you found a similar job outside of the company without upper management approval you would be terminated immediately. If there were lawsuits involved,I’m not sure.

To it they never specified what constitutes a competitive job. So I guess they just held the sword of damacles(sp) over your head for anything the company dislikes.
Rimmer: “Step up to Red Alert.”
Kryten: “Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb.”
