Is it weird that this is the first I'm hearing of a Borderlands movie?
Maybe a little.
Starting in February 2024 there have been over 10 links about it on Blue's.

Yesterday I decided to try the free Borderlands 3 I got on Epic. Once in the game I had to close a full screen ad image for the movie before I could use the menu.

Is it weird that this is the first I'm hearing of a Borderlands movie? I'm not a console gamer so I never really played the games, and I block ads everywhere possible in my life. It's strange how much "news" people receive in advertising form.

The actors they picked are all top-tier actors. They just are not suited for the roles they were given for this movie. Kevin Hart is a comedian - so why was he given the most serious role as Roland? Roland was the one character who was played straight through the whole series. Lilith was very young - so why do you give her role to an actor in her 50's? Tiny Tina was 11 or 12 in the games. I can understand that they didn't want to deal with the extra rules regarding child actors but I think that they would have been better served with someone younger. The casting is bizarre.

Actually, I was also concerned about that, but he did play a good part in the movie. Not his usual self.

As we said, the movie really wasn't that bad. What I really liked the most was the look and feel of the movie scenery. It really did feel like Borderlands. so you got to give them credit there.

studio contractual obligations maybe? Sometimes actors sign on for a movie and part of the deal is that they do another movie....they don't always get much say in what the movie or role is.

I like the fact that its making the games popular again though, that's hilarious.

I agree its not as bad as they are making it out to be.. but its not a triple A move either.. the biggest draw back is the cast.. they just didnt fit the roles very well. probably the biggest draw back is going to be those who never played the games just wont get the movie..
Kind of surprised to hear complaints about the cast, that's a bunch of A-listers. I am kind of surprised they went with so many middle aged actors. Younger ones would have been less expensive and allowed more easily for sequels. I don't really go to the theater anymore, but I will pick it up on VoD in a few weeks.

I went and saw it just because I love the Borderlands games. I have to say, it really wasn't as bad as they are trying to make it out to be. I will say that some of the char actor choice are baffling, but it worked over all.

But damn if they didn't nail the aesthetics and the look and feel of the games scenery.

Without giving anything away, when she arrives on Pandora, it looked like they ripped a shot right out of the first games opening area with the mountains and the billboard. That was really cool to see.
