I'm fine with Geralt not being the lead character, but I do hope that he has more than a small cameo. For me, the Witcher universe and Geralt are inextricably tied together. There was that Witcher card game, which was good, but it was a completely different type of game. A third person story-driven Witcher action RPG without Geralt would feel weird, so I'm glad he'll be a part of it.

GWENT. Which, ironically, was the only part of the third game that I really got in to.

Uh oh...

A The Witcher game not centered around The Witcher.
I smell a flop in the making.

I'm not interested in playing it if that's the case.

I wonder how the quality of the writing and the quests will compare to the original Witcher games. AFAIK they have pretty much run out of source material, and as much as Sapkowski himself has distanced himself from the games, for the most part (in fact most of the better quests in the games) draw very heavily from the soruce books.

I'm not. I'd be all for seeing the Witchers in their prime with the various schools a century or two earlier. Maybe the beginning of the Witchers. After all, they were created because of all the monsters in the world - of which there were many more before Geralt.

I had really been looking forward to another Witcher game utilizing current-gen tech, but not with Geralt relegated to a non-lead role

Witcher 3 mods forever I guess.

Yennefer or Ciri? I'm thinking Ciri myself.
Yennefer wouldn't make sense as she is not a witcher.

I wonder if it will be a prequel to the previous game, told through the eyes of Vesemir, maybe with voice-overs from Geralt, as he recalls stories told to him by his mentor. That could be interesting, and give some more depth to Vesemir and his relationship with the other witchers.
