Out of the Blue

This week's Hall of Fame Game kicked off the NFL preseason, a harbinger of the coming kickoff of tackle football. ESPN sent word that the Pigskin Pick'em 2024 is now live, so I joined the Blue's News Group (password "bn") for our annual friendly competition at picking winners. It costs nothing to join and there's no prize for winning, so it's a variant on a zero sum game. Join up if you're interested, share the link with others if you wish (don't forget the password), and feel free to pick fewer winners than I do. Thanks in advance!

Also, happy birthday DOOM 3! I know I have a physical copy around here somewhere. I just have to dig up my flashlight so I can find it.

Picky Round-up
Thanks Ant, Neutronbeam, and Max.

-- Doom 3 Phobos Mod 1 & 2 for Doom 3 + ROE originals (won't work with BFG)
One of the best story mods ever.
(They are 3 parts !, part 2 starts after ship takes off with you inside, ample details in another post by me).

-- Doom 3 BFG VR: Fully Possessed Mod.
Also works for Resurrection of Evil expansion.
Amazing VR experience, easily one of the best out there, mouse and keyboard.

Before I could watch "another" Joe Rogan show, I would have to watch my first. It is pretty obvious he is what you called him, unless of course you happen to have the same problem. Which apparently a large number of people do...

I have to dodge so many Alien Romulus trailers and articles! I watched the first real trailer and was pleasantly surprised. I was worried about the rumors that it involved KIDS ffs, but luckily the trailer showed said kids being destroyed by the xenomorph, as they should.

Still a very weird concept though.

No more spoilers now. It's almost time 📽️

Tyler fractured his larynx.

I’ve never heard of that.
Well, I have heard of it before... but I wouldn't have thought it could happen without him being physically struck in the throat. Which isn't something I've read anywhere. I wonder if he just put so much stress on his larynx via his singing over such a long period of time it just gave way? Might be interesting to know the details.

Steven Tyler sustained an injury that left him with “bleeding” vocal cords during their stop at the UBS Arena on Sept. 9, 2023.

“I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”

No where can I find mention of what caused the injury, so I bet it’s safe to assume it was caused by his style of “singing.”

Not the biggest Aerosmith fan here, but there's no way he sings in that vocal range that well for 50+ years without blowing his voice out if he's not singing properly to begin with (ie-from the diaphragm). If he'd been throat singing all that time his voice would have lasted for about as long as David Lee Roth's did...about 10 years at most.
