Once Human Launched

Once Human is now free-to-play on Steam, challenging players to survive the post-apocalyptic future its open-world depicts. There's a lot to know about this, so the lengthy Official Release FAQ is here to answer your burning questions. As NetEase previously announced, the Once Human demo was the most-played at last month's Steam Next Fest. A new Careless Paradise Trailer is here to celebrate the ensuing carnage. Here's a description:
The apocalypse changed everything. Human, animal, plant… all are infested by an alien creature – Stardust. As a Meta-Human, you can survive the contamination and use the power of Stardust. Play alone or join others to fight, build and explore. When the world is in chaos, you are our last hope.

You wake up in the middle of nowhere. You'll have to brace yourself for the cruelty of nature (from monsters to lack of food); however, Stardust's influence does not restrict to living things, it also affects the soil and water. Eating polluted food and drinking dirty water will reduce your Sanity. When your Sanity drops, your max HP would drop accordingly. To eat or not to eat, it's a question.

Wow, Mixed already. Lots of complaints about their TOS and it being P2W....

READ THEIR TERMS OF SERVICE, we require personal information, password info, government ID, address, IP address, location and mailing address, billing, birthday, social media, and collection of your friends on social media, nicknames, real names, first and last name, if you think i am kidding read it, i nope the hell out and exited,

This smells like "the day before" scam

Crypto miner and personal information identity theft.... got to consent to them having access to pretty much everything about you shy of your social security number.

Ok, hard pass thanks.

the game seemed interesting but then I saw it was F2P... warframe did it right, most other companies do not.

Forced Gaming is pretty positive about this one. There are a lot of activities in the world that are really fun, thought out and sometimes epic. It doesn't look like a scam at all. I hate F2P with a passion, though. Warframe included. Any game with carrots on sticks in the form of heavily overpriced content can gingerly massage my ballsack.

F2P game with 'mixed' reviews pretty much means this is complete garbage.

What I saw was that it's standard boilerplate legalese. While I haven't delved too deeply, I am seriously doubting they are requiring any information outside of email address and, maybe, billing info for the paid content, which is pretty standard fare.

All the discussion I've seen have been blowing things completely out of proportion. I mean, hell there are people questioning elevated permissions when the game installs despite literally almost every piece of software that has some sort of anti-tampering (in this case, anti-cheat probably) does this. It's not like you're giving this program kernel access or anything.

I expected you to finish that sentence differently for a second Personally I assumed F2P games are like horror movies: every score above 5/10 is probably gonna be pretty good 😂

Has anyone else noticed that Steam's "Similar to games you've played..." algorithm is totally broken lately? For this game it's telling me that it's similar to Raft and Satisfactory. They have to be kidding.
DEI hire? Oh how cute, you think you found a way of being a racist without sounding racist. That's adorable!

I think its broken too. It was recommending me a hunting game yesterday because I like space simulations.

Hilarious. I know that the tags showing for Steam games are different depending upon the account looking at it. Ask a friend to look at the same game as you on Steam and they will likely have different tags. You can also modify the tags for games which is basically teaching their algorithm what you think.

It's not immediately clear but Once Human has a lot of survival / crafting elements. Maybe that's why it links with games like Satisfactory.

Hunting sim... Space sim... Not hard to see how the algorithm connects the two either, I think? 🤭

This thread is probably necro (or do I now necro this thread? I don't know how this new termonology works yet), but I've finally decided to ignore the terms & conditions controversy and started it up...

..and let me tell you, this game is FUN! It's basically The Division LITE, with a lot of crafting and survival elements attached to it. If the setting was less weird and more realistic, this game is basically what people wanted The Day Before to be.

I'm addicted already. I've hit zero pay walls and I'm 10+ hours in. This may become the next WarFrame.
