Out of the Blue

It's Independence Day here in the US, an annual celebration of our divorce from Great Britain a couple of centuries back. Most of the festivities involve cooking out and blowing stuff up, an unlikely, yet popular combo. We're casual participants here in the BlueTower, but we do have a surprisingly good view of the local fireworks from the comfort of our living room, so we can get a lot of the experience without a lot of effort.

Here's hoping you have fun if you are celebrating, but please be careful, as driving and fireworks aren't compatible with the excess drinking that can also mark this occasion.

Thanks Ant, Neutronbeam, and Max.

The really funny thing about this to me is the "recommended" temperature for getting your best sleep is supposedly 65 (give or take a couple of degrees). So, if you follow the suggestions in that article you are making it more difficult to get good sleep, by letting the temperature go up for sleep. For years I had my thermostat set at 80 for the summer. Since I have a whole house dehumidifier, just that really makes the house feel much cooler here in the Midwest. But the last couple of years it has been slipping down. Last year I went down from 78 to 76, and I go down to 74 overnight. I tried 72 overnight for a while, but it was too cool for me. Which is kind of odd, because in the winter I usually have the thermostat set at 68-70 and it feels fine.
A day without video games is like... just kidding, I have no idea.
