For no reason in particular, I thought that I would post these here. It was just an odd compulsion; I have no idea what instigated it ...

figgy pudding and fireworks?

I think they celebrate it this year by voting out the Tories(Conservatives) finally… one can hope they finally come to their senses.

As for my expat, American in Germany, self I will be celebrating with pan-fried burgers after I get out of work. And yeah my German wife had to remind me about the holiday… again. I’m so disconnected from it now I barely think about it.
A recent vox article echoed the same.

I guess there was one good thing about Boris Johnson.

Enjoy your burgers.
Thankfully we got some rain yesterday which should lessen the chance of illegal fireworks catching this part of the country ablaze.

I mean, the answer is almost always austerity. Just destroyed so much institutional knowledge of how to run a country.
Which, incidentally, is what Reagan did to a degree, and Trump did to a larger degree, and Trump is promising to do.

We're the world leading nation for many things, so let's get rid of all the people that know how that happened and put in cronies and children. That sounds rational!

Slope... so... slippery!

You should take a look at the number of cases of hi-rise peeping that have happened in just the last 3 years. There were two cases in the small city where my parents live. They didn't catch the person doing it either, but hey I get it. When someone is using a drone to record a 12yr old girl in her bedroom that's just a slippery slope! 'Cause that was what happened in one of the cases.

Even if you did suspect that a delivery drone was illegally over your property, the only legal and proper response would be to document and report it.

Report it to whom? And how do you establish who owns it to begin with? Cops wouldn't bother showing up. FAA? Yeah, good luck with that. And what when the air is filled with these things with their annoying whining, colliding with birds and each other, or just plain old mechanical failures and they're falling out of the sky causing damage to people, pets, wildlife, and property? And even with BoP's proposed limits many of these things have hugely powerful lenses that can be used to invade your privacy even from a few hundred feet up. Fact is these things aren't needed in any way, shape or form - beyond maybe for SAR or military applications, as seen in Ukraine - so why permit them in the first place? And I would love to see a feasibility study on the economics of how many of these are required to replace even a standard courier panel truck and driver and how much both cost in the run of a day.

You never have been mad enough to shoot your own property? I once had a gun repeatedly jamming and the clip release was broken so magazines would just randomly fall out. I wanted to shoot it but couldn't figure out how to. (Don't ever buy a Taurus)

Some clown in
Sacramento was dragged into court
He shot his lawnmower
It disobeyed, it wouldn't start
Might makes right, it's the American Way
They fined him $60 and sent him on his way
You know, some people don't take no shit
Maybe if they did if they'd have half a brain left
