GOG.com announces it is partnering with
Capcom to bring the original
Resident Evil Trilogy back to PC, and
Resident Evil is
available right now,*
offering the first game in the survival/horror series. Though it includes some
technical improvements to rendering and controller support, this is not a
remaster or a remake. Word is: "Our version of the game keeps all the original
content intact – 1996's description is no exception." The listings for the
returns of
Resident Evil 2 and
Resident Evil 3 are also live, each showing
"coming soon" as a release date. Here's a rundown of how the RE1 re-release differs from the
version launched almost 30 years ago:
The iconic classic is back, better
than ever, and made to last forever. Here's how we ensured it and what you can
expect with GOG's version of the game:
- Full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- All 4 localizations of the game included (English, German, French,
Japanese).
- Improved DirectX game renderer.
- New rendering options (Windowed Mode, Vertical Synchronization Control,
Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing and more).
- Improved timing of the cutscenes.
- Improved game video player.
- Improved game registry settings.

- Full support for modern controllers (Sony DualSense, Sony DualShock4,
