The thought of Bethesda being in a rush to make anything is terrifying. Although it could lead to more Fallout 76-style hilarity. I thought Todd Howard was retiring. It's past time - an honest word hasn't come out of his mouth since he was in his 20's.

Yes. It'll also be dumbed down even further removing the SPECIAL tree perks, with standard locked stats. With an even worse story.

And TES6 will only have 2 stats: Health and Magicka, with no perk tree. Gotta make it even easier for that mass audience appeal!

If the new Dragon Age becomes a success then it's pretty much guaranteed that future "RPGs" will borrow the dumbed down awesome button concept from it. The decline is going to be real.

I'd rather someone else do TES after 6 but I just want 6 out ASAP.

Nope.

And 'Shattered Space' will be the "end of the road" for me not just as far as Starfield is concerned but also as far as Bethesda (Game Studios) on a whole is concerned. Done with them.
Never say never.
Perhaps they'll get their priorities straight in the future as there's a slight possibility that the team has learned a lesson or two from Stinkfield.

OK, yes, if they fire Todd Howard and replace several other key team members like Pagliarulo and if they completely overhaul their established formula to replace it with a strong focus on more depth, better writing, choices & consequences, player agency, an actual combat system etc. etc. etc. then I might start caring about BGS games again but what are the chances? As far as lessons from "Stinkfield" a.k.a Starfailed... nah, Howard is tone deaf in that regard. He had nothing but praise for Starfailed in that interview and emphasized how many players the game has had since launch (14 million) with an engagement of 40 hours average per player and so on... he considers it a smashing success. He doesn't give a shit about any criticism.

I feel the same way. I've had my fill of Bethesda since FO76's launch.

But (and I like big buts), I'm giving them one more game. Why do they deserve one more chance?

Because they're no longer the ones in charge. Starfield was the final pure Bethesda game we'll ever see. From now on it's Bethesda's design style with oversight from their new overlords, overlords who tend to not enjoy the kind of bad press that Bethesda games garner alongside the praise.

I'm hoping that the recent incarnation of Bethesda is dead, and the new Bethesda does better.

I wish it was the end of the road. Just leave it like it is, and let the modders fix it. Every Bethesda game, whether it is mediocre or even good, only becomes great once they stop updating and let the community take over.

Good news, Starfield's Shattered Space DLC won't be the end of the road when it comes to expansions.
I consider this bad news as it further delays TES6 core development. However, since TES6 will still use the same quarter-century-old game engine, I'm not all that excited.

I'd guess it takes around 5 years to make an open world Bethesda game it's not like they can just pivot to making another anytime soon. I'd guess The Elder Scrolls VI is under development. Hopefully they continue to improve creation engine and they learn from mistakes made in Starfield. As popular as Fallout is again I wouldn't expect a new one before 2032.
