As an owner of three Minecraft accounts, I can say I got a ton of emails about it, and in-launcher reminders over the past 3 years, and I took care of this a year ago.
No one has any business complaining. There was a lot of warning. I am not one of Microsoft's usual defenders, but this was very straight forward, and necessary, as they had two completely different account systems: The old Mojang accounts grand fathered in from OG JAVA Minecraft, which is what I mainly play, and the MS account tied to the XBox, Windows and all the other new platforms.

Surprisingly, they were very helpful if you didn't receive an email or missed out on this even after three years. I hadn't realized (I don't remember emails about this transition) quite some years ago when this happened, and when I did, I emailed them somehow somewhere and got it all taken care of.
Outraged? Really? I mean what's happening in Ukraine and Palestine is outrageous, but this? Some people have way too much leisure time on their hands in that case.
I have never received any emails related to minecraft.
I have no sympathy. MS gave tons of pre-warning, and sent multiple emails over a long period of time. They were either living under a rock, had not legit emails, or were willfully ignorant/lazy.
