Second Developer For Wolfenstein?

Second Developer For Wolfenstein? is a story on HomeLan Fed reporting that a preview of Return to Castle Wolfenstein in the September 2001 issue of Computer Gaming World reveals that Gray Matter is not developing a multiplayer mode for their upcoming first-person shooter, but that an as yet unsigned developer will take on this task. They contacted id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead about this who briefly commented that more information will be released at next week's QuakeCon.

Multiplayer was never intended to be supported out of the box. They have said all along, it's all about the single player experience.

If they are bringing in separate developers for multiplayer, i would hope it is for something more involved than Wolf arena. About the only thing i could forsee needing those kind of resources (considering the q3 engine has some decent net code already that shouldn't be that hard to incorporate) would be coop. And i think i would pay 20 bucks on top of the game for solid online coop.
