I used to use a gaming laptop, but it has been replaced by a combination of the Deck and the Switch.

I have both and a gaming desktop (which I don't really use for gaming anymore). Given the choices and the fact I can use the Deck and Switch on the subway, the concept of a laptop to play games no longer seems relevant.

Oh, and every gaming laptop I have ever owned has suffered from heat issues - which is not a problem with any of the options above.

They have limitations but you know them going in.
1 Can’t be upgraded.
2 Limited lifespan, see above.
But, like handhelds, they do have advantages over a tower.
They’re portable and take up less space. And unless you’re buying top shelf, they’re cheaper.
