Out of the Blue

I wanted to get the chance to rewatch Mad Max: Fury Road before going out to see Furiosa. But I haven't gotten around to that, and dawdling on the current movie is not a good idea, because it sounds like it's going to close right away. I'll work on changing plans, but I may end up waiting to see this at home despite myself if things don't work out. Speaking of which, we recently watched something amazing at home that I should have mentioned for equal time when slagging Atlas. Over the Memorial Day weekend we finally caught up with 1917. I was aware that this is all depicted as single running shot like Birdman, but I was still not prepared for such a stunning technical achievement. I definitely want to see the "making of" features for this film for a look at how Sam Mendes and company managed to accomplish what they did.

WOW, It was pretty much all anyone was talking about at the time.
The fact that you didn't notice it speaks volumes about how seamless it was.
1917 - (Behind The Scenes Featurette)
Yeah, I don't recall reading anything about the film before or after watching it. It was on one of the movie channels so I watched it one night. *shrug*

The reason I'm half annoyed at not noticing is how much I fell in love with the dance scene in "La La Land" about 40 minutes into the film. It is Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone dancing on a street at dusk with the LA skyline behind/below them. It was done in a single shot with a single camera, it is fantastic. I have watched that scene on my DVR probably 100 times.
