Tomb Raider TV Series Greenlit

Following the news that it is publishing the next Tomb Raider game, Amazon Games announces plans for a new Tomb Raider series that will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. This is being written and produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who continues to follow her Fleabag success with work on established properties like this one, His Dark Materials, and Indiana Jones. Lara Croft has already starred in three Hollywood features, and now we'll see if she can be fit onto the small screen. Here's more on the show and the game, indicating they are not directly connected:
This exciting news comes after Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games previously announced a collaboration to develop and publish a new multiplatform Tomb Raider video game. The as-yet untitled game is a single-player, narrative-driven adventure that will add a new chapter to Lara Croft’s story in the Tomb Raider series.

“With great IP, the possibilities are endless. The richness and depth of the fiction allows the Tomb Raider series from Prime Video and the video game from Amazon Games to tell separate stories about Lara Croft’s adventures.” said Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games. ”We’re honored that Crystal Dynamics has entrusted Amazon with this iconic franchise, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this collaboration takes us.”

Please stop. Tomb raider worked as a game. No one ever played Tomb Raider games for the "story" or for the character arcs or whatever. It was a 3d platformer\puzzle game with a bit of shooting mixed in. That's it. Hell, Doom1 and 2 had better stories than Tomb Raider.

I liked Alicia Vikander performance in the 2018 reboot.

She was excellent, as she is in everything. She fit the role much better than Angelina Jolie imo.

Except for her lack of massive jugs I agree.

I found the 2018 reboot to be really dull. I think the best way for this production to distinguish itself is to make Lara an actual Tomb Raider. Take some cues from the first games, and have her be the grave-robbing, animal and person killing bad-ass she's supposed to be. That's one thing the original movies did a decent job with.

The actress for the role hasn't been mentioned, but Waller-Bridge was very much to blame for the arc of her character

Oh, look -- another crap Medium opinion piece. These Medium articles seem to be the latest internet scourge of people spouting random opinions and Medium giving it the sheen of a real news editorial. The first half of that article is all attacks on her personal appearance, followed up by the authors own opinions on her acting. Then going on to quote other people not associated with the production that share the authors view. No actual supported facts presented. Just speculation and echo-chambers.

What, you don't think Fairy Poo has a valuable opinion on the subject?

Yeah that article is garbage. She was probably the best thing about that film, which isn't saying a whole lot.

Kastagir! It feels like it's been a hundred years.

Thanks for the summary. So it's just basically a better worded 4chan post.
With enough opinion shopping you can even find articles on how good the Second Amendment is for America.

They're all condensed to one website instead of thousands of blogger sites, which is very convenient for finding quality posts like Unfold Games' "Why I turned down exclusivity deal from the Epic Games Store." Typically the quality stuff bubbles up to the homepage and top of the search results.

The 2018 reboot introduced me to Walter Goggins aka The Ghoul in Fallout. He played a pretty good unhinged bad guy opposite Lara Croft.
