Also I have seen S(v)wen's name spelled both ways. Take your pick.

There are no picks to take . The man's name since his birth in 1972 has always been Swen Vincke and anyone else who spelled his name with a "v" was simply uninformed. Yes, granted, spelling S(v)wen with a "w" is slightly unusual for Europe, as you will mostly meet Svens over here, but that does not change the fact that Swen's parents decided to go with a different spelling.

You will also find both variations of the female name over here, i.e. Svenja or Swenja. Sometimes parents like one more than the other. They are the ones who had to take their picks .

Well, no... Microsoft stock has been doing really well thanks to the AI/datacenter hype. They are only slightly below their 52 weeks high (which also happens to be their all-time high) at the moment.

It just struck me as comical that Bond talked about Microsoft's financial "health" as if that was somehow even remotely in danger given the INSANE-IN-THE-BRAIN profits that Microsoft is raking in. Fun fact: Q1/2024 NET INCOME is $21.9 billion and Q1 is traditionally ass so if they pull off a strong Q3 and Q4 then Mickeysoft might be surpassing that sweet $100 billion NET INCOME this year (those poor unhealthy puppies Wink ).

I don't recall saying "MS" anywhere in my comment, pretty sure it was a broad brush comment about the silliness of wall street as a whole. I know.. I know this is where you try to be right with the 'well the OP mentioned MS so it stands to reason that is what you referred to...' I wasn't, leave it at that.

Also I have seen S(v)wen's name spelled both ways. Take your pick.

Oh yes, Microsoft's business is so unhealthy. They made the exact same $72bn NET PROFIT in 2023 as in 2022. In fact, they lost ~$.03 billion because it was $72.7bn in 2022 and only $72.4bn in 2023. That is completely unacceptable. ZERO GROWTH. How can they even continue living with themselves? Quick. Shut everything down that is not profitable and never ever even try to fix or improve anything. Just shut down and destroy. That will turn the ship around big time!

Welcome to late stage capitalism. Where making literal BILLIONS of profit isn't good enough for the tools on wall street. If you are not making more and more profit year over year they will punish you by selling your stock. It's ridiculous.

It is perfectly ok to pursue higher profits as long as you add more value to your product. Stagnation is not an option, profits will collapse and your competition will catch up and surpass you.

It's a unsustainable long term strategy. There are only so many customers, money being spent on your product once you hit that you got to screw consumers and create artificial inflation just to cater to out of touch tools on wall street. Doing things like upping prices, tossing in ads when you are paying for ad free initially, etc Look at netflix and other streaming they signed up most everyone they can. So to cater to 'you need to make more' exactly what they are doing.

Sorry if you are making billions in PROFIT and you don't make as much as some talking heads on wall street say you should make the system is broken. OH NO they made 55 BILLION last year and ONLY make 57 BILLION this year we were expecting at least 62!!!!! They are horrible SELL!!!!!

As I said ridiculous.

I've seen this from the inside.

A lot fo the talent and amangement checks out after a buyout. They now have money to go start their own thing or leave and will phone in the next game. You end up with a good team of people but your fancy engineers, designers and producers don't always stick around long enough to see the next game out.

A lot of these teams are capable of anyhting but have to chase the latest trends to get stuff greenlit which dosn't always work out either. The devs may "suggest" live service/micro transactions but only because they want the biggest budget they can get from the publisher. Without it they may not even get greenlit.

I wonder to what degree Xbox's problems as far as success in the market have been created by Phil Spencer. I mean he's been in Xbox for 23 years (joining as general manager of game studios EMEA), and head of Xbox for 10.

Is the problem insufficient resourcing to his department, or is he running things poorly?

Maybe the hardware brand was tarnished irreparably in the past, but then shouldn't he pull a Sega?

Not sure what the exact right number of years in job is before we can blame things on him is, but I feel like we're well past it.
