TORN Cancelled

While strong rumors and reports from the pertaining developers appeared last Tuesday (story), Interplay has now officially announced that TORN, the 3D role-playing game by Black Isle Studios, has been cancelled and that several developers were laid off. Here is the brief announcement as received by HomeLAN Fed:
Black Isle Studios' title, TORN, has been canceled. In conjunction with the cancellation, five of the 56 member Black Isle Studios staff were laid off. All of the remaining members of the TORN team are now working on other internal Black Isle Studios RPG products.

Is this true ?!? How many of those 50 people worked for BIS ?!? I can't believe they let BIS down ,i fear Interplay is going to Die.

In My opinion gmae developers should relate to ONE publisher only,so that they may do whatever they feel like without having such gmae-ingorant individuals around.

Just like Eidos. I mean, for god sake, was Tom Hall (and all his team) to be fired with Romero ?!? I understand sales are what that matter for them, but can't they see talent at all ?!? Don't they know talented people can do EVERYTHING if asked so ?!? I think what companies like Interplay lacks the most is the ability to understand their own products as much as lacking of any degree in video game understanding.

A few people? Around 50 people total were canned! There's a lot of speculation regarding why this happened, but there's only one real reason: mismanagement. It doesn't matter how talented the development team is - they've got to have the backing of an equally talented mangement team. I predict that without the money to get out of debt, we'll all be reading their bankruptcy announcement

You know, I hate saying it but damn it I was really looking forward to this. BIS has made some kick ass games in the past, FO/FO2, PS:T, and such and damn it...I really wanted another tormentish feeling game and I was hopeing that TORN would fill that void.

But...Interplay has FUSKed themselves over and as such have probbly just signed their own death warrent. This is NOT going to go well with the CRPG community atlarge.

So, they officially announce that Torn is dead, but they don't say anything about the 55 people laid off on Tuesday.
