It's hard to imagine Fallout fans overreacting to something. I love Fallout, but man the fandom sure can crazy.

It most certainly is ridiculous, but I don't think anybody is missing or denying the obvious references, up to and including teasing New Vegas as a central location for the next season. They're jumping to conclusions based on the aforementioned small detail that is probably being misinterpreted, and then worrying about events of the story told in Obsidian's New Vegas being retconned. Which is something that was bound to happen (people being ridiculous), no matter which game's source material they made the show adjacent to.

BGS confirming explicitly that NV is still canon should be the end of it. But no, people are still inventing their own contradicting headcanon and passing it off as official, then get upset about said contradiction. The weirdest thing I saw was this made up conspiracy (of course, everything has to be a conspiracy) that BGS wanted to retcon NV purely out of spite for Obsidian. Gamers are a weird bunch.

Let me say this spoiler free. The fans are over reacting. BGS already replied to this nonsense and said NV is STILL canon. The basis for all of this; One could make the argument later in the season the production folks display the wrong date by a few years (seems to conflict with dates given in NV) and that's what is at the root of this drama. One can also interpret said date as correct just a bit out of context. Either case that's what everyone is loosing their minds over. A year written on a chalkboard, at worst, is a couple yrs off from established canon. It's totally ridiculous.
