Bethesda is one of the most mod-friendly publishers out there. They need modders to finish their games for them so they wouldn't be trying to break the mods.

I don't seriously think Bethesda is trying to deliberately break mods with this update - I'm just saying it couldn't have come at a worse time for Team FOLON.

Great, now all the mods will be broken again, because Steam will auto-update the game and you can't stop it. Why can't Bethesda focus on making their recent games good instead of messing up their past ones as well?

Yes you can. Just switch to offline mode. Or, to be perfectly safe: Pull the plug or turn off WLAN. It's no rocket science.

Also, it will only break those mods that rely on FOSE. Everything else like simple texture replacement mods etc. will be safe, of course.

Finally, if anyone is just now playing FO4, it's just shitty timing. You had almost a decade to play it and OVER FOUR YEARS to play it completely undisturbed by any patches since the last patch came out in December 2019.

Final-Finally, it remains to be seen how alert and quick the FOSE folks are gonna be. If they update FOSE the same day as the patches are released then this is pretty much only a very minor nuisance.

Uh, that's actually GREAT, at least for me.

The Ultra wide mods (and there are several, in various stages of abandonment) all have issues, or conflict with various other mods. Also apparently to get everything to look good on ultra wide requires more work for the icons and menus than most people seem to realize.

Everything else I want to change in Fallout 4 is already available in thousands of mods, so bring it on, Bethesda!

PS. Also the Amazon Prime Fallout show is pretty damned good, in my opinion. Although to be fair, I never played Fallout 76, so if there is some glaringly obvious conflict between the show and '76 then I missed out on it.

This update also comes with new content; a new quest and free workshop items.

Wrong, if a game has a scheduled update, going offline still won't let you play it. This it's been the case for years now. You can't even set a game to not update if you don't want it to any longer.

LOTS of mods rely on script extender. And no, other mods WILL be affected as well as they rely on the base game's files being in a certain specific arrangement.

And it may surprise you, but people play older games all the time, not just new players (though those will be shafted too). There's no reason Modders and players should have to put up with this BS.

Nah, no way. London was already delayed due to other problems. This is just pure coincidence. Bethesda's patch was coming one way or another. They opted to combine it with the Series' release date is all.

Pretty sure it was unintentional. The FOLO team reported awhile back they actually had some Devs from Bethesda assist them with the project. This came from upper mgmt.
