I get a lot of the criticism that Ubisoft games get. You could storyboard a generic plot and some basic side missions and plug them into a shocking number of their games. A dead family member at one point was the catalyst for every Ubisoft game in existence. They are repeatedly releasing microtransaction-laden garbage and now have moved onto live service garbage. But all of that - I mean ALL OF THAT - is corporate mandate and interference. Ubisoft's board and the company that they contract with to clean their company bathrooms could be swapped out in their entirety and it is completely inarguable that the decisions made could not be any worse. They might not get better, but they in no way conceivably be any worse.

When talking about Ubisoft programmers, designers and artists, I think they, at least based on what I have seen, are exquisitely talented. They very well might represent the pinnacle of the state of developers in the industry. Instead of disposing of them, get rid of the fucking board. I'd be willing to bet that the best one in that lot has less importance to making a game than the lowest of the 45 just laid off.

Not to worry, they're sure to find more ways to streamline their operations and enhance its collective efficiency so they are better positioned for success in the long term with those other folks. If not, they'll shit can 'em.

Churn out the same 4 formulaic IPs that they have been continuously churning out for years.

The sooner that UBIsoft dies the better for gamers. Perhaps what grows from the ashes of the company something better that listens to customers will emerge.

Still pissed at them removing terrorist hunt mode from R6: Siege since it is the only reason I bought the game.

Among many other reasons to be pissed at them.

Oh man, Ghost Recon going up for grabs would be so sweet. And Rainbow Six.

I also share the Siege sentiments. Although I haven't loaded it up in ages, but they outright removed it? I hated them for not paying it any attention - nevermind continually nerfing it for any kind of gains. It may as well never have existed. I still regret buying it at launch. Have had to look elsewhere, like Insurgency, for my T-hunt kicks.

They're busy adding more repetitive quests, icons covering game maps, and the ugliest HUD imaginable to all their games.

They're all not necessary, so fuck 'em.

You might be be surprised at how long people can go without either of those two things. But otherwise, 100% agree.

Just turn on the Gaza coverage, and you will get your answer. Humans are terrible. Happy Easter.

While it’s never a good thing a person loses their job, there are jobs that are inevitably going to be at a higher risk of being lost, particularly in the field of software development: these jobs, programming, coding etc. have vital roles but also non-essential like game development. Consider the occupations that are necessary and beneficial to all people, and those that are not: do all human beings need emergency services, and fundamental education? Absolutely, yes. Do we need a studio creating Call of Duty part 20? Not at all. Do all human beings need fundamental foods such as grain, vegetables etc.? Absolutely, yes. Do we need KFC? Not at all. People may call out for the developer losing their job at Ubisoft, but I rarely see (of late) people posting multiple posts on those who lost their jobs at schools, or local shops shut down across the globe for a mall replacing them. Are we going to cry for so-called Content Creators being replaced by AI when the world barely needs such people, especially those feeding off others’ work?! LinkedIn attributes multiple layoffs to overhiring during the pandemic and the increase of AI. Think about that next time you turn to ChatGPT etc. - you are personally helping a minority find work while simultaneously ensuring more people lose their livelihoods in the process.
