I don't know where you're getting the AI angle from the link. It's almost entirely companies trying to make their books look temporarily better to boost their stock price to make activist shareholders happy. That's just your everyday wealthy screwing over the middle-class. Eventually, a bunch of industries that didn't have unions are going to start unionizing once they finally figure out it's the only way to fight back against corporate greed, and said companies are going to find themselves in a worse position. But hey -- the execs got their millions so what do they care.

I would argue that the ultimate goal should be for robots/computers/etc to replace as close to 100% of the human workforce as possible so that the vast majority of our years are not primary spent toiling away at bullshit, and humanity can simply enjoy this one life we get.

I may have some ideas regarding this, but I don't pretend to have the answers as to how it would all work. That would take people much smarter than I am at this stuff to figure out, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for it.
