Out of the Blue

I've been enjoying the Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest Cam on and off since RedEye9 pointed to it. And by on and off, I mean sometimes watching the nesting can provoke more anxiety than pleasure. Where eagles soar also applies to where eagles nest, and while it's difficult to estimate the height of the nest, it's easy to tell it is way, way up there. So at times the winds buffeting the nest seem apocalyptic. Today that's punctuated by rain and snow, and it's startling to see how calm Jackie (the mom) remains through the maelstrom, nesting on her eggs like someone on a comfy living room couch. But there's a potential payoff for whatever tension this involves, as the littles are expected to pip out of their eggs any time now, which should be a sight to see.
