Terminator: Survivors Announced

Nacon announces Terminator: Survivors, an open-world single-player and co-op survival game coming to PC and consoles based on the inevitable war with the machines. A Terminator: Survivors - The Aftermath Trailer is here to introduce the game, saying it will come to Steam Early Access on October 24, 2024, just two days before the 40th anniversary of the first Terminator movie. Here's word:
It’s been four years since the day humanity nearly perished. The truth of the event is still muddied in half-truths as you emerge from a shelter to attempt and reestablish some semblance of society in a world that seems hell-bent on eliminating you and the last vestiges of mankind. You are tasked with scouring the surrounding land for materials, information, other survivors and key resources in order to establish a base of operations for your fledgling group.

But you’re not alone. Skynet’s machines are hunting you. They don’t feel anything. They never stop. Ever. Until they completed their mission: eradication of all humanity. Alone or within a group of up to four, lead humanity’s rise from the ashes and unravel the truth behind the bombs, Skynet and the Terminator threat.

Its already bene confirmed by the devs that this takes place in 2009 shortly after Doomsday. so, yeah. No plasma Weapons yet. still in the early days after the end came. I'm hoping this does well so it can be expanded more into the future timeline when it really gets harder for the resistance.

Fair enough on the T-800 but it doesn't excuse the human with the AR not having any sights whatsoever.

Cool, though no gameplay shown.

Why is the human with the AR fielding a rifle without any kind of sights? Not even irons. Bore sighting is the least accurate way of targeting something. With resources being scarce and Terminators being tough as Hell, one would think you would want to make every shot count. Also, why is the Terminator rocking an AR? If this is post Judgement Day, shouldn't it be rocking the Westinghouse R95 first gen plasma rifle?

Saw people in comments talking about how good Terminator Resistance was, so looked it up on Steam. 65% off, less than $20 (AUD). Purchased.

I would also recommend to grab the Annihilation Line DLC. It is pretty decent, too. Terminator Resistance is definitely a good game, though it takes a little while to get going. Maybe almost a little too long. I don't want to spoil anything but I wish that the game would have opened up sooner with the larger scale battles that you take part in towards the end of the main game.
Annihilation Line is a great addition with iconic characters from the franchise and a pretty decent story line. If anyone is a Terminator fan then Resistance + Annihilation Line are no-brainers.

They have cybernetic implants? They're AR plasma rifles in the 40 gigawatt range?

I'd like to know where they got gasoline that's still good. That's the big one that bothers me in most post-apoc stuff. At least in Mad Max 2 there was a functioning refinery which was the focus of the story. The only cars people would have would be Gary Numan's Cars they listen to on a trickle-charged phone/Mp3 player.

I'm surprised that it took so long for someone to make a post-apocalypse survival game in the Terminator universe. The 'before-armageddon' and the "John Connor messiah" stuff was done after T2, and no amount of awful movies will fix that. The concept is outstanding, but I give this only a small chance not to botch it in execution.

Early access = hard pass. Wake me up when there is a complete edition in a few years with all DLCs on board and only if this is not one of those annoying survival games where you need to collect sticks for the first ten hours to make a fire to cook the food that is going to take another ten hours to collect. Thanks.

After watching Terminator: Salvation years ago, I always felt the time period after Skynet took over would make for an excellent open-world RPG. The movie had all kinds of Terminators of different sizes all the way from lizard size to human size to giant mechs. This game has the potential to be really good. I hope they don't ruin it by making players chop wood and mine stone and make buildings from scratch like in a lot of the standard survival games.

I hope that people can play Roboeggers, sorry, Terminators, too. I want to hunt those fur-reduced monkeys after Judgment Day. My guild would be called "Skynet Pest Control".
