Stellaris: Expansion Subscription Launches

A Stellaris: Expansion Subscription is now available on Steam, offering Stellaris players the chance to play the vast library of DLC for the sci-fi game through a monthly subscription (thanks DrkCntry). You must own the base game, and subscribing gives you access to over $300 in DLC for $9.99 per month, $19.99 for three months, or $29.99 for six months. Paradox is known for its floods of DLCs, and this follows similar plans already available for Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis IV, and Hearts of Iron IV. Here's word:
Over the years, as more content has been added to Stellaris, we have been hearing an ever-increasing number of requests for a subscription option as an alternative to purchasing them individually.

We’re happy to announce that we are adding a subscription option to Stellaris, allowing players to access all released DLCs for Stellaris at a fixed monthly fee. Future DLC releases will be available to subscribers on day 1.

Oh for fuck's sake, how much more can they milk this cow before the teats just straight up fall off?

buy base game. install star wars or star trek total conversions. Dont worry about dlc.

much cheaper and a great pair of modded experiences.
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I suppose this is a inevitable evolution of their model.

I gave up on all the Stellaris dlcs years ago.

And whenever I go back to play some turns I have to start a new game. Because somewhere along the line they changed some game mechanic that broke my current savegame.

Those total conversions might be worth a look though

I don't really know anything about Stellaris but this sounds interesting.

There was a quite recent Star Trek game that was basically called as such but the reviews seem pretty bad.

Because it was bad. It was an attempt to turn Stellaris in to an officially licensed Star Trek game and cut the ST New Horizons mod team off at the knees. It failed because the STNH was, and is, so much better.

"we have been hearing an ever-increasing number of requests for a subscription option as an alternative to purchasing them individually."

Every single request was from the CEO to the marketing department to figure out a way to make players think they should become renters and not buyers.
