I've only seen that skit about a hundred times, but I still love it. Pryor is fantastic. He was an amazingly funny guy.

And to reiterate, I would like to be shit-faced in public with Pedro! 😁

Been there, done that. As long as it doesn't lead to alcoholism (and for most people it doesn't) I don't mind people having a good time. As long as you're not hurting anyone else, choose your poison and be merry!

And this is me being old, but you're not beating Dan Akroyd, Chevy Chase, Richard Pryor, Gilda Radner, many others... The Landshark skit is still my favorite SNL skit of all time. 😁

The "N" word skit with Chevy Chase and Richard Pryor. That's the one that stays with me. Talk about pushing the edge. I don't know how they even got that past the network censors in 1975. And if you've never seen it:

Over 20 years ago the US Army was running war games, simulations about hot spots of future wars being waged over clean fresh water more so than land or other resources. Clearly in the 90s they foresaw this coming.

Agreed, that was a winning group of folks backed up by some good writers.

Call me old, but SNL hasn't felt edgy and laugh at almost every sketch since the original cast days, and the second cast. After that? Meh. I can't sit through an entire episode, so I just wait for someone to tell me I have to see this skit or that one from last Saturday.

SNL doesn't have that many good skits anymore IMO, but I laughed hysterically at that sneaker skit this morning. Made my day. Thanks.

SNL has always been hit or miss, we just forget all the forgettable garbage and only remember the highlights, so SNL is cursed to always be "less funny" than it used to be.

I think the only real change is that it's lost the spontaneity and seat-of-the-pants nature. It used to feel a bit dangerous, like it was run by lunatics that could do anything at any time. This was reflected by the duct tape sets. But now? The production values are so high, the sets so ridiculously well done, the effects often very well done, and all the actors and skits just feel safe for corporate America. No danger of anything unexpected happening.

Except for Weekend Update, which I think is more amusing than it has ever been.

At the same time, I'm a firm believer that SNL was best when you were in middle school and it's all downhill from there, and I've watched little and liked less since Farley left. But, thanks to YouTube, I've seen more than a bit from this cast.

Gee, overpopulation + corrupt and ineffective government at all levels = disaster? Whoda' thunk it? The world so needs a one child only policy now more than ever. Virtually every problem all life has on this planet comes back to overpopulation of humans. I was mulling over going to Mexico City and Oaxaca for 7 days in March or April but I think I'll pass on that now. If they do run out of water it'll be interesting to see a city of almost 23 million people purging.

That duck tale is pretty amazing. I wonder what was wrong with that duck? Sauron should know.
"Van Gogh painted alone and in despair and in madness and sold one picture in his entire life. Millions struggled alone, unrecognized, and struggled as heroically as any famous hero. Was it worthless? I knew it wasn't."
