I was there for that. Intel didn't "fix" a single processor sent in. It was cheaper just to send out a new cD0 (at least I think it was cD0, been a while) step CPU. In fact, that is how I got my hands on a pair of Gigamine Slot 1 CPUs to finish building a system around an OR840MB. Loaded with 2GB of ECC RDRAM all free of charge. It made for a wicked fast Slackware server.
