Because they have no legal basis for doing so?
It's also not cut and dried. There's a lot of analysis by Nintendo and consultations with lawyers before bringing suit. If it happens, the earliest would be summer.

It's Ark with cute Pokemon-ish creatures and more Minecraft elements. Wide appeal for casuals!

From friends who play its great fun for 2 weeks then you get bored

That's kind of how the whole genre goes.
But people have fun for the week or two they play with friends running through the survival/materials/upgrade treadmill.
There are worse ways to spend $25.

I've done it myself a few times with these games.
One memorable one was Green Hell. Not the most polished or lengthy experience... but I really like the ambiance and kind of hardcore nature of that one.
Really felt like an episode of Naked and Afraid or Survivorman or some shit... desperately running down tiny streams looking for snails to eat while you lose sanity.

Haven't the active player numbers dropped sharper than any other Steam game before? What is this new kind of hype anyway where every game posts their sold copies?

When you peak at 2.1M CCU, even a 90-95% drop keeps you in the daily top 10 most-played games... Which is still something the vast majority of releases only dream of.

i played it every day for 3 straight weeks 4-6 hours a day. Ive slowed down a little bit because of life but playing it almost every day.

I am now on my third world start from scratch putting my main base in an entirely new location and playing the game different than i did the first two times.

So yes... people are still playing the game.

I have zero interest in the game, but happy to see a small company put out something that is entertaining millions without requiring the big AAA studio backing it. Nor did it have to drop millions in advertising before it got released to the point that you're sick of it before you even get your hands on it.

I'd say, it's a nice thing to see smaller developers compete against larger studios by showing, you can make millions by simply making a fun game that is straight to the point and didn't require months of letting you know it was coming out and it was going to be awesome. It's like a middle finger to those companies who over market and under perform when it comes to the product they actually deliver.

Sure. Great game. I've played through the current content, waiting to see what more is introduced though they seem to be leaning towards adding PvP now which isn't my thing so it may be a bit before they add something I care to play further for. The game does tons of things right, encouraging you to explore and capture more and more 'pals' to unlock upgrades that you need to level up to unlock. Has a lot of both cute and sardonic humour to it and satirizes the whole pokemon thing with the absurdity it is to capture animals and then make them fight. They also do a lot to remove the things in survival games that interfere with the fun but don't add to the actual game like endless and relentless inventory management. Easily made storage that all crafting pulls from so you don't need to sort or sift through your stuff to find THAT blue feather you needed for something is a game changer that other games either refuse to allow you to do or make you level up and farm shit to craft a specific box that will do that and call that 'adding to the challenge' when really it's just adding more un-fun game mechanics for you to fight against.

How can it be? Nintendo doesn't own the monster capture genre and this game doesn't use any Pokemon.

Doesn't look like something that would interst me but glad someone else made a successful game in that genre f**k Nintendo they are the Apple of gaming.
