Sure, with the caveats that:
1) These are commodity items, so I just shopped for price and features. They have them bigger and smaller at higher and lower resolutions and run between about $75 and $200. Almost all have Chinese names, and if any of them is an actual brand apologies, but it all seems like a crapshoot. There are name-brand models for more, but I'm guessing this will be just fine for my modest needs.
2) I haven't worked with it at all yet, I just confirmed it operates properly (it was plug and play) and looked okay.

But yeah, drawing power and video through the USB with no extra effort is a little like tech magic. Here's the link:

The article said 20+ bites were on secret service alone. Almost guaranteed that there are more bites on non secret service personnel.

That is ... completely insane. I'd put my own dog down well before reaching double digit incidents.

Thanks, interested to see how it performs. Could also use it with a Deck/Switch (via HDMI) and controller depending on weight.

Yelling, "OWWWW!" when my puppy bit me made him let go - his eyes bulged wide at the same time. It was quite hilarious. Thankfully he learned not to sink his razor-sharp puppy teeth into me at that point. He was heavily socialized weekly at doggy socialization classes, and also was exposed to a lot of humans at places like massage therapy clinics, veterinarian clinics, etc.

I just wish I exposed him to my sister's other pets as a puppy - bunnies and birds. He still goes crazy when he sees them. "They're friends, not food!"

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the new Boeing 737 MAX planes that don't just randomly crash into the earth or fall apart in flight, the product of some new streamlined AI enhanced designee process that saved a ton of money? hummmmm?

I wear a KN95 in public and still caught it Jan 16 first symptom. It gave me a yuky week and 2nd week of bleh but mostly gone after 2 weeks.
I could have sworn RSV was in the yearly Flu shot but nope it's separate and there's a shortage so only going to Infants and 60+, iirc.

Commander needs some proper training. When we took our German Shepherds for training the guy who was doing it was an ex-K9 cop. They were trained properly. How to heel, hand signals, not to chase prey animals, not to take food from strangers, etc. And all done with mostly positive reinforcement and minimal negative. When I see people who put shock collars on their dogs - like my neighbor did - because they're too stupid, lazy, and cheap to get their dogs trained properly I want to seem imprisoned for several years and banned from ever owning any kind of pet ever again.

I worked quite a bit with Tit Oxide in the past and my understanding was that, while not beneficial, it wasn't at all harmful either - same for any oxide for that matter, unless you're eating it directly by the spoonful and why would you?

We used a Martin Systems stim collar based upon the advice of our trainer, a well regarded former MP K9 trainer and current service dog trainer. It's about as "shocking" as a TENS unit on a moderate setting at its highest setting. Never had to use a setting that high. My dog never yelped or whined but it certainly got her attention and helped sharply curb negative behavior. To the point she doesn't exhibit that behavior today. If I break out the collar today, she hustles up to sit at my feet with her ears up and forward and tail at a comfortable, at rest position. She loves training time and she immediately associates that particular collar with training time. It's fun for her. Because Mrs. Burrito had Meniere's Disease, hand signals were an absolute must. The stim collar helped my pup focus and learn those signals at a rate of about 4 a day with retention and recall. She can even piece together five signals in a row for a complex (for a dog) sequence of actions.

Are there shitty owners? Hell yeah there are. I'll never take my pup to a dog park because of them. But it is unfair to blame the tool for the shortcoming of the owners.

I have a dog in Burma. I actually don't like dogs. However, this puppy came into my yard when I was getting food delivered. He was bitten by some type of snake and his neck/face was swollen. So I took him to the vet, got him vaccines, fixed etc., and the little fucker keeps destroying my yard. My house is a rental so I've been constantly repairing the damage the dog is causing (It is a Burmese built house, so basically everything is half-assed and already easy to wreck). He's also managed to kill several animals (wildlife and chickens etc) that wandered into my yard. I've had my yard totally fenced etc., but wildlife is pretty fecund here and apparently chickens can fly high enough to get over the barbed wire fence. He's also chewed up the front bumper of my (rental) car, the seatbelt once it was sticking out (my bad but still), the side view mirrors (replaced twice now), my water pump's power, my pvc pipes for my water hose (again shoddy Burmese Engineering is partially to blame) and more.

So I've decided to get a shock collar because:

-no dog trainers in my city
-my work/revolutionary schedule is basically 7 days a week + lots of travel, my only downtime is when I get injured/sick.

Anyways, my point is that I looked for help dealing with this behavioural issue but every site/expert I found had answers that did not apply to my situation (third world country, civil war, no services etc). I even thought of giving him up for adoption, but only for a foreigner. Burmese people love animals, but their idea of responsible ownership is not my idea. Thus I'm keeping the dog as I don't want him to have a lower quality of life. But yea, I am going to get a shock collar because I can't train him (he is stubborn as fuck) and I can't find any trainers. I don't really want to zap him, but I think its preferable to say, him biting the power cord on my generator outside and dying.

It's pretty easy to judge the actions of others when you don't know their situation fully.

How to train a dog without a shock collar

It's not rocket science. Shock collars traumatize dogs and make them much worse - more aggressive. If you can't do it without it, give up the dog to someone who can.

It's not rocket science. In fact, it's not even settled science.

I'd ask how many dogs you have professionally trained to come up with your declarative statement.

Steven Lindsay, on the other hand, a recognized expert on canine behavior, training, and learning has written three volumes on the psychology of our canine friends that are pretty widely cited in everything I found has published that stim collars (which are not "shock" collars despite the sensationalist claims and appeals to emotion that would characterize them as such) are effective aversion techniques for unwanted and negative behavior. Moreover, there is zero...and I will repeat that...zero evidence that shows a direct correlation between aggression and the use of stim collars in a study with a sample size large enough to be statistically significant. The plural of anecdote is not data, no matter how many people post on Facebook.

I also do not buy for one nanosecond that the use of stim collars teaches your dog to be afraid of you as the links in your Google search want to suggest. Mine certainly isn't. She sasses me on the regular (but still does as she is asked). In fact, she's so terrified of me that her favorite thing in the universe is to hang outside with me at every possible second. Her second favorite thing to do is droop all 55 pounds of herself across my lap in the evenings. Can't see a semi-permanently frightened dog doing that.

A three tier system is inarguably the better methodology. Aversion, praise, and reward. It also helps the dog to learn to differentiate between when they are on the job and when they are in pet mode. I love my dog as my best four legged buddy but she's also a tool that I use when needed. A clear delineation in duties taught by that three tier methodology has been a wonderful and positive experience for man, woman, and dog. You can rest assured that I will again be using that exact same methodology once I adopt another dog as a companion for my current dog.

German Shepherds are on the high end of the natural aggression scale. They need proper training and being one of the smartest dog breeds in existence, that is very easy to do. They take to training extremely well and their behavior is 1000% better. It's likely that he was in the wrong environment for him. I'd take him in a heartbeat. Well, my old self would anyway.
