ELDEN RING: Shadow of the Erdtree in June

Here's the promised Official Gameplay Reveal Trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree, the just-announced first DLC for ELDEN RING, FromSoftware's smash-hit action/RPG. It's been two years since the launch of the game, but players will have to wait a little longer for this release planned for June 21st. Preorders are underway here, but that's for their benefit, not ours. Here's word:
In ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree players step into the Land of Shadow to explore a new adventure full of mysteries and danger, to confront threatening bosses with new weapons and armor. Follow in the footsteps of Miquella and unravel the dark side of the ELDEN RING story.

ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree will be available for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam®. Pre-orders are now available for all platforms, including special bundles that include the base game, which is required to play the expansion.

I got really close to the end of Eldenring, but I never finished it. I experimented with a few builds, and it was quite fun to get my ass handed to me, but I don't know if I have the stamina to go through the whole thing all over again.

Will this DLC be adding any new gameplay ideas to the original game, or is it all post "ending" stuff for people who have already finished the game?

I would like "proper" Co-Op support for one thing. I don't mind the system that they have implemented now, it's quite cool in it's own way, but I would like a game mode where I can share experience, progression and loot with friends. That would be kind of cool.

Congrats on having the worst hot take of the year so far.
If they ever get their lazy asses in gear and finally implement DLSS and/or FSR like all the other titles with RT effects ( which would be a breeze considering they already have TAA and I bet Nvidia would send them a team to help em do it for free if they ever whistled ), wake me up and I'll recant.
Not holding my breath for it tho, not for their #VomitDLC either.
Whoa man are you ok or something bit you ?
"Lazy asses", "vomitDLC", a tad overwrought things to say about such respected developers.

Game play in these games is fun but...explain the story without looking up 40 hours of youtube videos like every fromsoft game.

Maybe, but I don't play it for the story. I can look up a wiki if I feel a need to know the lore - I play it mainly to enjoy exploring the incredible world and hacking up everything in sight. I wish I could forget my first playthrough so I could enjoy that fresh experience all over again.

Yea that used to bother me, but midway through DS2 I was so lost that I stopped caring entirely and just accepted that it's all about the vibes. It gives the games an otherworldly feel. I like to think that within the world, it's perfectly normal for characters to all speak to each other in this cryptic Shakespearian dialogue and it makes perfect sense them. Makes me feel like I'm an outsider looking in. Like I don't quite belong. And I like it.

I 100% all 7 games across PS3/PS4/Steam multiple times. But I find the elusive nature to their stories adding mystery to the worlds, and wouldn't have it any other way. Piecing things together during a playthrough and more through the community is just awesome and a different way of doing things. Bloodborne especially is a masterpiece.

Holy shit, $40? And no upgrade for existing owners? This had better be MASSIVE.

About as big as "Limgrave", 10 new bosses, 8 new weapons...

60$ used be a full game... I should pay 2 thirds of that for what's maybe a fifth ( at best ) of the original game?

I'm not impressed, and I'm not paying 40$ for that.

This has cheapass moneygrab written all over it.

Or you could pay $70 for a Diablo 4 mtx horse and some premium currency!

Why do that when I can pay $250 for an 18-inch plastic statue and 40-page art book to go along with my DLC?

You may think that's expensive, but good quality figurines of half that size tend to go for that much, without the game or the art book, so that's a bargain if anything :p

Have you not played a FromSoftware DLC before? The Old Hunters is probably the best DLC of all time. Yes it will be massive. Added to Steam wishlist.
