Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games announce the
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic
Collection, a revival of the original first- and third-person shooters
released a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Okay, it was 2004 and 2005
(as opposed to the 2015 and 2017 follow-ups), and it was this galaxy, so please
forgive the forced joke. The re-release is coming on March 14th to PC via
Steam as well as to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation5, PlayStation4,
and Switch. Word is this will support up to 64-player games on modern platforms,
but no other enhancements or updates are mentioned. The
Announce Trailer takes a look, showing what appear to be unchanged graphics.
The collection also promises additional content and Steam Deck support. Here's
more:
This new title brings the original Star Wars™ Battlefront (2004) and
Star Wars™ Battlefront II (2005) games to modern platforms with online play for
up to 64 players, expansions to Hero Assault mode, and all previously released
bonus content. Steam users will also enjoy Steam Deck support.
It’s time to relive intense battles from the Star Wars™ galaxy in the Star Wars:
Battlefront Classic Collection. Jump into thrilling firefights across massive
battlefields on the ground, in the air, and in space as the Empire, Rebellion,
Republic, and the Separatist Alliance. Choose an array of unique classes, pilot
a multitude of vehicles, and play as iconic heroes and villains from multiple
eras of the saga in solo, local, and online
play.
