Gamespy. The first 20 minutes is a really good retrospective on how they became the dominant multiplayer hosting service, and the catastrophic debacle that occurred when they pulled the plug without warning. Lot's of interesting info there, like I didn't know that Nintendo used them at the time, and it basically killed the Wii's multiplayer as well as some other of their services.
Last half is just the authors showing some old games that people have hacked to bypass Gamespy's servers, and keep them running, and their various levels of results trying to implement some of those hacks.
