I have only been following things casually but haven't they just laid off a ton of people and abandoned Warhammer III to rot as a piece of completely broken shit? Last time I checked, people on the Steam WH3 forums were at least slightly disenchanted to put it mildly and I was very glad I did not buy that POS.

And now they are working on a new RTS so they can abandon it prematurely? Um. Yay?

Total Warhammer III is certainly not abandoned, but technical debt on top of massive corporate misfires aren't helping, to say the least. The latest DLC price hikes and diminishing product quality control are causing much grumbling. Hardly broken or unplayable, but certainly not living up to ideals.

Thanks for clearing that up. After playing a free weekend, I was kind of interested in maybe giving that Immortal Empires stuff a try but they have kept the price of the first two games plus DLCs way too high to even consider that.
And then I also noticed the "grumbling" you mentioned so I was turned off even further. Oh well, I guess I will live, even if I have never played WH3... Wink

You don't need the older games to play Immortal Empires

What? Seriously? Did they change that? AFAIK, you originally had to own the previous two base games and every single DLC if you wanted the most complete Immortal Empires package and now you just get it all in one for "free" if you buy only TWWH3?

EDIT: Just checked their FAQ since it sounded too good to be true Wink . Turns out you do need to own the previous games/DLCs if you want access to the full roster of units/races/lords etc. - Seems like you "only" get access to the map parts of the previous games for "free" but everything else requires owning the previous stuff.

Nah the entire map is to play on if you have WH3 base-game. Only the factions you play as are paywalled. On the map they are all present and you can fight against each and every one, and see their roster, units and stuff in use against you. Big improvement over how it was previously.....

And previously to play main faction Vampires for example, you would have needed to buy WH1, WH2 and WH3. So thankfully we are beyond that. But Mortal Empires (For WH2) is better than Immortal Empires imo and there it doesn't apply, so yay I guess? Win some, lose some.

They're back on Warhammer III now that the Hyenas abomination has been cancelled, it's received several hotfixes and patches recently. In a pretty good state right now actually, just needs some campaign map optimization and more DLC. The base game has an absurd amount of value though.

I really hope not. 40K has been done to death, probably more than any other IP.

And Games Workshop doesn't deserve any more fame and fortune. They've already used what they've got to become some of the biggest assholes in tabletop gaming.

That makes sense given previous Warhammer games by CA and the fact that the last Dawn of War was six years ago.
