Out of the Blue

It's Cyber Monday, because... profits? Of all the shopping hype at this time of year, the idea of making home shopping an appointment event seems weirdest. But everyone loves a bargain, so there's that. If you're in the market, here's hoping you find a good deal on what you seek. Presumably you won't get trampled shopping at your keyboard.

Read that story about the 'Nam vet and the woman, it's really heart warming. It'll make you misty.

So Prez, I was looking at your Steam profile the other day and for the insane amount of games you own I was surprised that Xcom 2 was your most played game, but more suprised that Phoenix Point and Chaosgate followed as your next 2 played games. Prez is down with Xcom style games. Anyway I already played PP, and wasn't all that impressed. Picked up Chaosgate last night though - $20 at GMG - and really impressed and liking it so far. Really scratches that Xcom - and Warhammer - itch. Maybe I'll try PP again later.

Strategy games have always been my favorite. Since I lost a lot of my ability to handle much twitch gaming (i.e. First or Third person shooters) that's even more true now.

Chaos Gate was probably my favorite Warhammer game of all time. The art in it is nothing short of incredible. There were hints of brilliance in 'Phoenix Point' but ultimately it was kind of disappointing. With a few key changes the sequel could be spectacular. I remain hopeful.

Stupid question: How do I know if I want a 240w USB-C cable or a 60w USB-C cable? I guess I have to look in the manual for the device I want to charge? FWIW -- The USB-C cable I referenced was Anker, but 60w.

How many Kevin Bacons is that?

Six, of course. The answer is almost universally six.

That brings up a good point. I am an experienced "6 Degrees to Kevin Bacon" player (not to brag, but I might even be a pro) BUT... what if it takes 7 degrees??? I remember once I thought of a very obscure Asian actor that I was finally able to connect... in 7 steps. I never was able to determine if this was a legal move, and my life hasn't been the same ever since.

There's so many new specs on these things that it's enough to make your head spin.
Do they do high speed data, do they do video, do they do high power. Rarely can you find one that does all three. And if you do you can't afford it.

And I know all the phones have different specs for what they consider a turbo charging and I was beginning to think my phone didn't support anything like that. But my old phone which was a Motorola would hit turbo charging on a higher power charger I have plugged into my strip. The new Moto wouldn't. Maybe it was the cable, I haven't tried it yet ... oh never mind I can't because the high-powered charger is not usb c.

So I plugged the new cable into my laptop - and lo and behold my phone pops up a Turbo Charging message.
Yay, it's the small things.

In October I bought a USB-C cable for $15 on sale, Amazon.
Cyber Monday it’s $28 on sale.
Nothing but profit.
Winning.

Edit: the October purchase was a deal of the day, but still.
