Out of the Blue

One of the upsides of not getting out to see many movies in the theaters is that the hubbubs surrounding their releases usually have died down by the time they show up on cable, and it's easier to avoid being influenced by extremely positive or negative reviews. This, combined with simple curiosity, often makes me look forward to movies considered stinkers as much as anything. Well, Battlefield Earth, whose poor reviews certainly made it a candidate for such a viewing, debuted on HBO this weekend, and for the first time ever, my sole reaction is my least favorite cop-out movie review cliché of all time, as I find myself resentful that I will never get those two hours of my life back. Ouch!

Story of the Day: Genital-biting fish terrorise village (Herald Sun). Village? Hell, that headline has me terrorized (or the more British terrorised in this case) half-way around the world! Thanks RodentX.
Bonus Story: Microsoft Dictionary Sports Odd Definitions (Fox). Thanks theAntiELVIS. The information age takes a step backwards.
