Flashback 2 Released

Flashback 2 is now available, providing a flashback to the heyday of the original Flashback, a sci-fi platformer launched in 1992. The follow-up is available for Windows on Steam and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Launch Trailer is here with a look, and you can read on for a look back and a look ahead:
In 1992, Flashback revolutionized action gaming and gained legendary status, ranking among the 100 best video games in history.
Today, Paul Cuisset, the creator of the original game, invites you to play again as Conrad B. Hart, the young agent of the GBI (Galactic Bureau of Investigation).
In the 22nd century, the peace of the United Worlds extends throughout the Solar System — but this tranquility is threatened by the Morph invasion led by the fearsome General Lazarus.
In search of his lifelong friend, Ian, and with the help of his few allies — including A.I.S.H.A., his iconic AI-powered weapon — Conrad, once again, dives into a heart-pounding adventure full of twists, turns and revelations!
A gripping, fluid and intricate platform shooter, including exploration, puzzle solving and, of course, adventure!

"ranking among the 100 best video games in history"

Whenever I see that type of comment I always ask myself, "ranked by who?" The top 100 all-time lists these days favor recent releases to a large degree, and seem mostly compiled by young 'uns who have a cursory familiarity of 80's, 90's, 00's games.

'Out of this World' was so much more memorable to me. It was gorgeous, and visually striking - so much so that I vividly remember it to this day. The impression it had on me is still so incredible when I think about it. It turned a hobby into a passion.
"The assumption that animals are without rights, and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance, is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality."

I could've sworn I played a demo for Flashback 2 years ago but it looked different than this. I also thought Flashback and Out of this World looked amazing on SNES. But what stuck with me was that they both had unique worlds that you didn't see in video games at the time.

There was a reboot ("re-imagining") of the original game 10 years ago (2013). That was probably it. I played some of it, never finished it but thought it was not bad.

Welp. Reviews aren't looking too good. I owned the original on SNES. I thought the graphics were mind blowing back then. Well that game and Out of this World.
