From Kerbal space program to the new total war, to this. Sequels are just bombing out of the gate. What is going on?

We've reached a new milestone. Developers will actually announce ahead of release that performance will be bad... and people still buy it. I might have lived long enough. I've seen it all. Or have I?

Cities Skylines 2 reportedly runs with 7-12fps on an Intel Core i9 13900KS with AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX at 4K-High Settings

So what’s the problem? You just don’t buy this unoptimized POS. Period.

I don't know if a 4090 can reliably get 60FPS@4K in a built up city

It can't even manage an average of 60 @ 1080p, didn't you know?

Ah, well yes I did literally say I don't know as I don't have that card. I have my doubts about that claim, because as I also said "There are many options that help performance enormously", none of which the person in that video-in-video was using. V-sync is bugged for a start, turning that off helps quite a bit, and they had several settings on high that can be disabled will minimal impact on graphics quality. Disabling fog helps performance and graphics quality in my opinion.

Of course none of these should be needed and again, I did say performance is bad.

There is one colossally bad aspect that I can't go into yet as technical stuff is still under NDA. Thankfully it should be fixable relatively quickly - a few weeks maybe - but eeeesh, wtf.

... buuuuuuuuuuuuut ...

Performance is bad, especially on AMD cards. I don't know if a 4090 can reliably get 60FPS@4K in a built up city. It's the most disappointing aspect of CS2. I do think that this will improve quite quickly after launch as I know of a major but fixable issue but damn this situation should not be happening.

You are dreaming, this POS game can only run around 60fps@1080 with RTX4090 + Ryzen 7 7800X3D!!! This game is the new Crysis or just garbage bad. (and 28fps@1440 high)

I'm dreaming? So what, performance isn't bad?
