Silly question: With all these Maga nut conspiracy theories concerning mind control via vaccines, programmed by the national alert system and Wifi, why aren't these people raging about this? I mean, for crying out load, this exactly what they're talking about: Putting a chip in your head.

I imagine that, to them, the difference is that this is some expensive piece of hardware requiring expensive invasive surgery that will not be widely utilized like vaccines or national alerts or wifi, so it doesn't work with their conspiracy theories which tend towards mass population control.
Do you have a single fact to back that up?

On one hand, you take away Musk's involvement, and this could eventually lead to improved life for the physically disabled. On the the other hand, I don't think brain implants will ever work because electrodes and wires just aren't compatible with the brain. If something like this ever works out in the future it will likely involve nano tech or biological interfaces.

And yeah, if you're upset about animal experiments, don't buy any hand soap, cosmetics or take any medicines.
DEI hire? Oh how cute, you think you found a way of being a racist without sounding racist. That's adorable!

The experiments on monkeys for this research sounds horrific and completely immoral.

Animal 15 began to lose coordination, and staff observed that she would shake uncontrollably when she saw lab workers. Her condition deteriorated for months until the staff finally euthanized her. A necropsy report indicates that she had bleeding in her brain and that the Neuralink implants left parts of her cerebral cortex “focally tattered.”

Yeah that sounds...horrifying. Never dig into the history and origin of human surgery either for that matter, some barbaric stuff.

Oh the real time telemetry! Can't wait to give a red hat psycho fascist a direct link to my brain, not!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride! - HT

That's pretty messed up. The amount of animal carcasses' that will pile up to reach this tech will be staggering. And it bloody sucks.

I'm not particularly sanguine about giving Kotick access either.

Imagine Elon Musk having control over a chip in your brain that controls your motor functions. Holy shit. Better not piss him off on Twitter, Neuralink test humans.
Do you have a single fact to back that up?

There is a shit-ton of highly developed neural pathways already in humans to and from the brain to the extremities, especially the hands. I'm all for exploring new forms man-machine interface, but I think success lies in working with biology, not against it.

It's sad to read such comments because I've read many comments about paralyzed people regaining some functionality with such implants. It makes me feel like we're not getting the full story and that these volunteers end up in a bad way.
