For over two decades, Counter-Strike has offered an elite competitive experience, one shaped by millions of players from across the globe. And now the next chapter in the CS story is about to begin. This is Counter-Strike 2.
A free upgrade to CS:GO, Counter-Strike 2 marks the largest technical leap in Counter-Strike’s history. Built on the Source 2 engine, Counter-Strike 2 is modernized with realistic physically-based rendering, state of the art networking, and upgraded Community Workshop tools.
In addition to the classic objective-focused gameplay that Counter-Strike pioneered in 1999, Counter-Strike 2 features:
- All-new CS Ratings with the updated Premier mode
- Global and Regional leaderboards
- Upgraded and overhauled maps
- Game-changing dynamic smoke grenades
- Tick-rate-independent gameplay
- Redesigned visual effects and audio
- All items from CS:GO moving forward to CS2

They removed CS-GO from everyone's Steam Library. CS2 is missing a bunch of content from CS GO. CS2 is free to play but I'm wondering if they'll try to start selling that already bought content (for those who bought it before it became free to play) back to people as DLC or if they are still working on it or if it's gone for good.

Too old for this shit.

Has anyone found out how to play arms race in CS2? For a casual players like me that was an important game mode.

It's just you. This is probably the most played FPS and eSports game in the world. Refinement to graphical, audio, better netcode, lower input latency, new gameplay features, and QoL improvements over the years is really the way to go. Then it's looked at sorta like real sports are which have refinements to the rules and broadcasts (720p/1080i, now 4K, etc) for better visuals.
Damn I remember back when Beta 6 was coming out, 1.6. Source, and GO. This really must be the greatest FPS of all time. To think I considered paying another $70 for COD 45 or whatever. Counter-Strike 2 looks awesome, gonna download this over the weekend and try and grab a friend to play.

Is it just me or does this look exactly the same as the previous CS:Whataver it was called? Seems like at least from a visual fidelity and gameplay experience perspective, nothing significant has changed.

Hey, maybe we'll get Counter Strike 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Team Fortress 3, Portal 3, and Half-Life 3 in all at once.
