Yeah, scratching my head at that as well. It's not the most convenient thing in the old version, but you can bring up the desktop and fire up a browser to look up a walkthru, or respond to a friend messaging easily enough without taking the headset off.
I admit I did take off the headset a lot in my early days of VR, to do things on the PC that I had not yet realized you can do from the headset - like reconnect to SteamVR when it crashes or you lose the connection. Nowadays, heck, I'm not even in the same room as my PC when I use SteamVR.
Matter of fact, since I figured out how to enable the double-tap on the headset to toggle the camera passthrough view on and off, a while back, the headset stays on my head until I'm done playing, unless my nose itches or something.
He also mentions having 'spent the money on a high end TETHERED headset". He has a Quest 2. Why in God's name is he using the tether cable? As soon as I figured out Wifi works rock solid, that expensive tether cable went into the drawer, never to see the light of day again. I'm sorry I wasted the money on it.
It makes this guy sound like he really is a VR noob.
I'm tempted to try the beta, but I'll probably wait until it's done. There definitely sounds like some good improvements in there. I like the idea of docking a guide or walkthru to my controller.
DEI hire? Oh how cute, you think you found a way of being a racist without sounding racist. That's adorable!
