Out of the Blue

We put new tires on MrsBlue's car last week. They had a lot of years and miles, and when one of them developed a slow leak occasionally triggering a tire pressure warning, we knew it was time. A local place took care of this quickly, and we were happy to think it was done. But yesterday when running errands, the pressure warning light came on again! This had me wondering if the leak had been due to a rim, rather than the tire. But when I checked, I was surprised to see that it was probably just negligence. The tires are supposed to be 32 psi, but I measured them at 37, 35, 31, and 27. It was the 27 psi tire that triggered the warning, and disturbingly, that was the same tire that was leaking in the past. But the random pressures of all four tires suggests this was all a mistake. This is disturbing too, but at least it is fixed now if that was the case. We'll just have keep tabs to make sure. No pressure.

I really hope we are not getting all the information. With knowing how much fuel was in the plane and the fuel burn at whatever speed it was travelling, it should be pretty easy to narrow the crash area. And I agree, I'd like more information on why the pilot needed to eject from a plane which was still able to fly...

Last week I thought someone snuck in and sprayed my car keys with Stealth.

The jet was left in autopilot mode when the pilot ejected from the aircraft, so there’s a possibility it could still be airborne, Jeremy Huggins, a spokesman at Joint Base Charleston, told NBC News over the phone.

However, he said, searchers were focusing their attention north of the air base around Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion based on the jet's last-known position and coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration.

I have questions. The plane was on autopilot when he ejected, 'and may still be flying'. Who bails out of a plane that can still fly?

How the F do you lose fighter plane?

Has anyone checked to see if Spectre has the plane and wants a ransom for it?

My Ram gives me the tire pressure readouts right on the dash and they're always spot on when compared to a manual gauge test. It's pretty conservative too, when it comes to warning when a tire is low. Five pounds below ideal pressure.

Yep, know that.

Well it does mean one thing, you overpay for maintenance.
*meh* Sometimes, yeah. Not always, I'm not oblivious to pricing..

After my mother's brand new Lincoln got an oil change at the Dealership where it had been purchased, I checked the oil and it was a quart over. If we had driven the 180 miles back home w/that extra quart it could have been bad.
The oil pan was divided by a sway bar and had two drain plugs, they weren't hidden.
Trust me, the master mechanics aren't changing oil or mounting tires at the dealership.
You seem to have concluded my intention was to imply, "Take it to a dealership and you won't see these problems". When actually, I was simply saying 1) the work described was sloppy. 2) I had not encountered the problems 3) I had the work done at the dealership. I only mentioned where I had it done assuming if I didn't someone would ask.

What I didn't say was I don't take it to the dealership in the town I live in, because of their bad reputation on many things, including maintenance.

Wow. That is some sloppy work. Mainly because I am lazy I have my work done at an actual dealership and while I haven't checked every time, when I have all my tires have been at the correct pressure. That said, I have long thought one of the best purchases I have ever made is my air compressor. Super handy especially in the winter when there is snow about -- much easier to deal with in a dry garage.

Trust but Verify.
It takes less than 10 minutes to check your oil level and the pressure in your tires.

Tire change monkeys and oil change jockies etc... aren't there because they have a PHD, I'll bet $1 that many have alcohol and drug issues and are probably hungover AF.

There are a lot of things that can vary the pressure of a tire. The recommended pressure listed on the door is for "cold" tires, but even when "cold" if one side of the car has been facing the sun all day and the other shaded, the side in the sun will be higher.

i don't understand why it's so difficult. a tire shop should have a hundred pressure gauges lying around. hell the pump they use to inflate the tires should have a built in gauge.
