Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Patch Next Week

A new Official Cinematic Trailer shows off Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the expansion for the cyberpunk RPG that's launching on September 26th. But before then players can expect the version 2.0 update for the game to arrive on September 21st, and this trailer is here with a look at what to expect from that. This post on the official website has details on a livestream to celebrate the launch. This post discusses how the new version will change perks and skill trees, offering a Build Planner, since word is players will be given a one-time free respec to adapt to the changes. Here's more:
With Update 2.0, we have completely redesigned the perks and skill trees to give you the freedom and flexibility to become the cyberpunk that you truly want to be. With a range of brand-new abilities that open up unique approaches to combat, stealth, hacking, and more, you’ll be able to take down your foes in exciting, creative ways that they won’t ever see coming!

Our vision for this new system was to have fewer, but way more impactful, perks for players to choose from. Instead of getting multiple low percentage increases to your damage, you will now get many opportunities to unlock completely different abilities that modify the way you play.

When I remember Cyberpunk 2077 I keep wondering how in the fuck is it possible that Bethesda gets a "pass" for Starfield, when CDProject RED got so much shit for CP2077, which was out of the box a 1000x better game than Starfield is at launch and is probably now going to be insanely good with 2.0 and this expansion.
The difference is that CP2077 was REALLY buggy at launch, especially on consoles while Starfield runs at least without any huge glaring bugs, but is in reality rather undercooked with a lot of mechanics just badly done or missing features. Yeah there are performance issues but it doesn't affect consoles and AMD users, the first of which I'm sure is a huge percentage of buyers, and the lack of depth isn't going to bother a lot of people, and if it does, they won't notice it right away anyways.

400 hundred hours playtime since 1.02. Lot of fun playing basically any way that I wanted, with a huge variety of builds.

2.0? You either play 2.0 like Doom Eternal, or you'll be massively underpowered. Stealth has been gutted, front-loaded quickhack buffs are gone, the best bits of Cold-Blooded have been distributed so widely that few builds will gain the benefit of all of them.

Unless a tonne of the old perk functionality has been moved to the new cyberware, 2.0 represents a massive narrowing of viable playstyles. The marketing is "more ways to play," but the reality currently visible to us is quite the opposite.

Chasing fans of the anime seems to be the goal, here.
Um, 2.0 isn't out yet, how are you commenting on something no one hasn't even played yet? 😂

I played the recent versions, and stealth was still very much possible, any mission that gave me extra bonuses for doing so, I was able to, and it was still fun.

Quickhacks are still OP as hell, I could clear whole areas just using cameras or sitting on a ledge, not even firing a shot.

The game's problem isn't that you're underpowered, it was that it was WAY TOO EASY to be overpowered. Even on hard I had to consciously limit myself in order to give myself a challenge.

FemV definitely has the better voice, and you can romance Judy as FemV. She's one of the most lifelike NPCs I've ever seen.

I fucking loved playing through this game. Really looking forward to this expansion.

Played female V the first time since i heard the voice actress for V knocked it out of the park and she absolutely did. I think i'll give male V a playthrough this time.

I'm looking forward to this. I played a corpo with a conscience on my first playthrough, so on this one I'm going to go with a downright sociopathic lunatic from the boonies.

This game needed a more action-oriented pass. Stealth was super powerful, and "going loud" was usually just aggravating, I never really felt like a cyberpunk hero, just a space marine. Melee combat was pretty lackluster too, glad they've done a pass on that. I'd like to see more than say 2 animations for katana light attacks right time :/

I still hope stealth is viable, I'm sure it will be, but yeah... I wanna Sandevistan the fuck out of my next replay.

Also for posterity: Day 1 PC player, didn't see a single bug (other than some generic weird citizen pathing) until the first patches came out, I beat it in the first 3 weeks.

Considering this update and the new expansion are only reaching PS5/XBSX and PC makes me much more confident the DLC launch issues will be minimal.

Now I just gotta finish BG3. Act 3 is a delight so-far, lots of things coming to a head. Intrigue!

Somewhat disheartening. I played through the vanilla version with a mostly stealth/ranged build, with some limited hacking and melee. Looking at the new skills trees in the build planner, I can see going a little more offensively minded in the post DLC playthrough, but who knows.

starfield runs fine if you have a top end AMD system. never drops below 60fps for me on an ultrawide monitor. don't listen to the haters; it's not at all a typical buggy bethesda release. i'm probly 30 hrs in, hasn't crashed once and i can't remember any bugs either. there are probably some minor ones, but a game this big, that's unavoidable.

i played cp2077 six months after it came out and it was already in a great state then. 2.0 should be a dystopian dream.

i'm really looking forward to finally checking this game out. response at release sounded sufficiently mixed that i figured i'd just chill and wait for an expansion to clean it up. hopefully i'll have my 7800X3D build done in time (ostensibly it was for starfield, but i don't think even that will serve to eke decent performance out of that heavy ass game).

I played the base game on day one with no significant issue, maybe a few minor quest bugs and visual glitches here and there. So after waiting almost three years for this, I am definitely ready!

I agree with your first 2 points, but CDPR has lost the benefit of the doubt with me. I'll wait until it is confirmed to work.

I’m currently playing Encased and de-denuvo’ed Resident Evil: Village, both in endgame stages, before coming back to CP2077. I want to know how the main storyline ends. BG3 is next on list, by then the 1st Starfield patch should’ve happened. Future plans

I got it on STeam sale in June, but then I got clued into the V2 here so I stopped my playthrough and I have been waiting for this. I wasn't very far into the game, so no issue starting over. (I mean, I was 90% through Act 2 in BG3 and started over, so...) Hopefully I will be done with BG3 when this releases. I doubt it. Between this, Avatar in November, and Spiderman II - not to mention finishing Hogwarts, the Horizon expansion, and Jedi Survivor...I think I am going to be good for games for the rest of 2023. At least. Oh, I forgot Diablo IV and the last ESO expansion. And the last GW2 expansion... Dizzy

I’m still on my 1st playthrough with my level 45 V and I’m curious about v2. Expecting this to be buttery smooth on my AMD system (if it isn’t —> sabotage by CDPR/Nvidia).
