Armored Core is better.

Having played their last game, I hold little hope.

But I feel the Mechwarrior audience has been pretty consistently bitchy over the years.
Midnight wrote on Sep 18, 2023, 13:19:I mean, sort of. It has to do with mission design, too. In most sims that don't have lasers and FTL drives, you might have a mission to fly a bomber, bomb your target, and go home. The singleplayer campaigns of most space or 'Mech sims are designed around missions where your commander expects that you, personally, can take out 20 or 30 enemy units equivalent to or better than your own. If it's simulating anything, it's a Hollywood action movie. With the exceptions of the original Mechwarrior and MWO, the Mechwarrior games and all the rest have always been closer to MechAssault than something like Falcon or IL-2 Sturmovik. No one really wants a return to Mechwarrior 1 singleplayer where your lance takes out another lance and the mission's over.Prez wrote on Sep 16, 2023, 20:39:
This made me laugh. How do you make a "sim" of giant stompy battlemechs? ๐
You could argue that technically it isn't a *real* simulator, but the Mechwarrior franchise has always been about creating an experience that *feels* like a simulator.

I loved MW2 when it was first released, enjoyed MW3 and 4, and am a fan of HBS' Battlech game (with mods), but couldn't stand MW5: Dreadful mission design, horrible writing and acting, sound design that totally failed to capture the scale of the conflict, and underwhelming mech customisation options. I have no faith in this company's ability to create a good linear campaign.
This ^^^ sums it up perfectly. MW5 is a sole-less, lego block made, repetitive arena shooter; mech sim it is NOT.

Satisfactory is a single game with one map, that has ten mods on Nexus (one or two of which are just saves), and is still in Early Access. Mechwarrior 5 has 4 DLCs and a fifth on the way, more maps and models, and 721 mods. It wouldn't be a reasonable ask.Orogogus wrote on Sep 15, 2023, 12:53:Which the Satisfactory guys did for free.El Pit wrote on Sep 15, 2023, 12:26:They might update to Unreal Engine 5.
Sounds to me a lot like "We got a huge MW5 DLC that we want to sell to you at the price of a complete game".
The map of Satisfactory is... huge. VERY huge. And open.
Concurrent players of Satisfactory
Concurrent players of Mechwarrior 5
The bigger and more played game gave the Unreal 5 update away for free. And it does not even depend on DLCs and microtransactions.
But selling the Unreal 5 update can be done even more greedily. I am looking at you, Ark: Survival Evolved developers!

No, my gripe was that the game would spam spawn tanks and helicopters out of thin air a very short distance away.

I pretty mcuh play all mechwarrior games but i skipped mw5 because of it's justified enemy infinite spawns and such.. MWO is fun as hell but overall their AI single player experience has sucked.
Hopefully they fixed their issues with this one.
