I use EZ Auto Backup which lets you install the backup folder any where. 
It was originally designed for Elden Ring but the dev has been adding other games.
And made it so you can add games manually, then they can be added to the overall base game list.

It annoys me that I have a gaming drive that it installs the game on, but then it uses my precious (and slower) C: drive for game saves.

Hrm yeah, I should clean out my saves a little bit... I save every couple of minutes, in a new save slot. Old habit. BG3 seems very stable though, and it has autosaves before big battles/decisions, just need to weed out my old saves.
