Out of the Blue

I'm happy we're back to normal in the Blue Tower following yesterday's blackout. Events like that are rough, but the timing could have been worse than falling on a Sunday. What's frustrating is that I had enough battery power to work through it, but it was impossible to connect to the internet. The power outage wasn't widespread, but I suspect it took out our nearby cell tower. The outage did make me aware that one of my PSUs needs a new battery, but other than that, there wasn't much else I could do. So I'll get that replaced. Maybe I should get an extra for that cell tower?

Happiness is restoring the original context menu when you right click on Windows 11 with a registry hack.
Zen is not having to hack anything to restore functionality simply because someone decided to move the deck chairs on the Titanic.
I enjoy going to a customer's business or casa and looking like a fool because some methhead in Redmond added his touch to the "latest" Windows 11 version by obfuscating another Control Panel setting and smearing it into Settings. ugh

Not just that, but removing functionality that existed in the old Control Panel entry or shotgunning that same functionality in to multiple, different subsections within Settings.

Just tried this one simple trick I saw on the Internet.
And it worked!
Thx.
Trouble is, when I cut out the www it fixed it for some users but broke it for others. The best way to make a problem more aggravating is to make it inconsistent.

Never heard of a cell tower that didn't have backup power, both UPS and diesel.

Of course, I am not in the US so it might be different there, I still find it strange though

That cell tower should have a generator that keeps it powered in case of shore power failure. Every cell site I have been to has one.

Thanks. The only help it provides is that it's time for me to give up trying to link to that site. Too bad, but they seem to have us on some sort of no-fly list for referral links. Seems batshit crazy, but there it is.
